Output: +16.5V or +18.5V?
Does a power adapter need to have an output of +16.5V to work on a macbook or can it be +18.5V?

Best AnswerThe Apple 85W is capable of both 16.5V and 18.5V output (adjusts automatically to demand). So it can replace the 60W 16.5V.

Best AnswerNo. The charger for your iPad would be the same as the charger for your iPod or iPhone. The computer chargers are different. This charger is also different from the 13 inch MacBook Pro and MacBook chargers.

I need to get the 60W MagSafe Power Adapter, AC wall plug, and power cord for early 2008 MacBook where do I find one? Please help!
- Asked by Reufa K from Boise

Best AnswerA current 60W MagSafe 1 power adapter will work. Even though the design changed from a white plastic T-shape to a metal barrel connector, the power rating and interface is the same.
I'm not sure if this is your issue, but I've seen an issue where the MacBooks had trouble recognizing the barrel style MagSafe adapters, but the issue was resolved by an SMC update. This could be done by plugging in the barrel style adapter, then running software update.- Answered by Kevin H from Durham

There are two part numbers for the Apple 45W Mag Safe Power Adapter for MacBook Air MB283LL/A and MC747LL/A. What's the difference between the two?
Purchasing some extra power supplies for the MacBook Air's we just bought at work. Found two of the same thing with different part numbers. Is there a difference?

AnswerWhen I look on the Apple Store there is only one 45W charger available to purchase--MC747LL/A. The different 45W charger parts probably have some internal changes. I noticed the same question about 60W units about 2 yrs ago. Probably happens periodically as parts/suppliers change. Both are most likely comparable, but check the specs.

will this charger work in NewZealand or will I have to use an adapter?
- Asked by Philip S
- Jan 12, 2010
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerYes, it will work, but you need an adapter plug ($9.99 at Radio Shack, Model: PCC-1 | Catalog #: 273-1448). New Zealand electrical grid is 240 V, 50 Hz. Written on the side of the Power Adapter is: "Input 100 - 240 V" and "50 - 60 Hz". That covers it.

Need just the 2 prong tip for 85w MagSafe Power Supply for Mac Book Pro 15 Inch 3 years old
I was at the apple store in Santa Barbara, California and told them that every time i unplug the 85w MagSafe adapter one of the prongs stays in the power strip. It comes out of the power brick. The store tech told me they do not sell the part in the store but online. I cannot find it?

Answer
You can use the power supply in the US, all you need is the Apple World Travel Adapter part number MB974ZM from the apple store.
"The World Travel Adapter Kit includes a USB power adapter, a USB cable, and a set of six AC plugs with prongs that fit different electrical outlets around the world. For world travelers, this is the perfect kit to ensure power connectivity in most countries you may travel to.
The Kit is designed to work with iPod, iPhone, Apple MagSafe Power Adapters, Portable Power Adapters, and AirPort Express.
The AC plugs included in the World Travel Adapter Kit directly support outlets in North America, Japan, China, United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Korea, Australia, and Hong Kong."
It also works in countries not listed as many countries use the same outlet as those listed. I've yet come across a country I cannot use this kit in.- Answered by Brian T from Saint Ann
