Does this adapter have a round or square insertion piece?
My laptop is an older model, the hole for plugging adapter into the laptop is round and I'm told that the newer ones have a square hole."

AnswerThis adapter is a new Magsafe adapter and will only work with the MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro lines of laptops. If you have an older PowerPC based laptop, such as an iBook, or PowerBook it will not work. What you likely need is this M8943/LL.

AnswerIt does. I've used mine for years in a house with the polarity reversed; I only found out about the reversal after buying a new battery backup. I've had no damage nor problems.

Where can I purchase the removable prongs for Australia?
I bought my Macbook in Canada so it obviously arrived with the Canadian power plug.
I am now living in Australia and rather than purchase a completely new power cable/transformer I would like to purchase the removable Australian prongs to replace the Canadian one. Where do you think I might find this?- Asked by Danielle B from Sydney

Any problems with using my MacBook while traveling in Canada? Also will be traveling with an iPad. What do I need to do to be able to use it?

AnswerNo problems re electricity. Power in Canada is identical in all ways to USA, including the type of plug.
Connectivity is another issue. Most Starbucks and McDonald's here have free Wi-Fi. As long as you look around and find a Wi-Fi spot, your connectivity will be fine.
The cellular networks (i.e., 3G, 4G) are run by Canadian companies. There are three major networks (Telus, Bell, Rogers) and then other cell providers who use those networks. There can be issues connecting and it can also get very expensive.
If you're expecting your iPad to work with a cellular network, then you should check with your provider first before you leave to see if you can make sure everything will work.- Answered by Steve B from North Saanich

Will the 85W work for the first generation 17' Mac Book Pro?
- Asked by Werner F from New York
- Feb 4, 2010
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerThe new 85W will work with the first generation 17" MacBook Pro. I personally own a first gen 2.16 Core Duo 17" MacBook Pro. I currently own TWO, NEW 85W power adapters with the L-shaped MagSafe plug, and both work.
While the 85W adapter is slightly smaller than the previous T-shaped adapter, it is still an 85W power adapter. There is an even smaller 65W power adapter that will not work on the 17".- Answered by Ryan S from Vancouver

AnswerIt does not matter; they both will work. All Macbook/MacBook Pro "magsafe" power adapters since the Intel-based laptops were released 6 years ago work just fine.
