If wifi is slow, and I use this instead will this make my connection faster? I often plug in my other notebook on slow connections.
I live in CHina where internet is often slow and unstable and wifi when it works is slower. If I plug in my other notebook to my router it speeds up the process. Will this help speed it up or is the airport a faster connection?

AnswerGenerally a hardline connection is faster than WiFi. I have tested both connections, and using the adapter has always been faster.

AnswerIf I'm understanding this correctly, you want to plug this adapter into your TV and use it to connect to your wireless network?
If so, then no, you can't.
The USB port on your TV is usually for either firmware updates or playing music, photos, etc, off of a thumb drive. It's not used to connect devices. And even if it were, it's very unlikely your TV would have the drivers to USE a networking cable.
And even if it COULD, it's extraordinarily doubtful that it'd have the configuration utilities to be able to configure a network.
And lastly, this is a wired ethernet adapter. You can't use it to connect to a wireless network, only a hard-wire network.
So, no.- Answered by J N from Northbridge

Can this be used on a PowerBook G4?
One of the ethernet plug wire connectors (inside the plug-in port) is bent, so the ethernet cable does not connect up correctly (and there is no wireless in the work area). Can this adapter work on my PowerBook G4 so that I can get back my ethernet connection to the network? The description for this item indicates that it works on MacBooks (and MacBook Pros), but does it just require a USB 2.0 port?

AnswerIt will work on any Mac OS 10.4.0 Mac and up. There are some drivers on other sites or this site that will give you the drivers for Mac OS 10.3.9 and under. I would suggest upgrading first and research just to be sure. If you have the usb port, then all you need is Mac OS 10.4.0 and up or the driver for Mac OS 10.3.9 and under.

can you use with ancient ibook running system 9?
I have great, wee, original bondi blue iBook that still works perfectly! Would like to be able to connect to my bt homehub but it won't support system 9. Would this product work with my wee machine, which runs on OS 9.2? Or if not, does anyone know of a gismo that would work?

Can this adapter be used to connect to the printer (that has just the USB socket) to use the printer via local Ethernet?

AnswerYou will need a print server to connect your USB printer to an ethernet network. In addition to handling the USB-ethernet conversion, it also handles the printer communications. A number of these servers are available from companies like Linksys/Cisco and D-Link, and they do not have to be Apple-specific. Note that most (if not all) will only access the print functions of multi-purpose machines (i.e., not the scan/fax functions).

AnswerNo, even if the connectors were compatible (which they probably are not, your printer probably has a "Type B" or square usb connector on the back), neither device would have the software built in to recognize this device. You could use an Airport Express to do this, although it does a lot more than that and you will pay for the extra features. Also, there are other (non apple) devices designed specifically for this task that cost roughly the same, maybe a little more.

Can I use this to transfer my files/applications in my MBP to the new Mac Air?
Everytime I buy a new MacBook Pro I get to transfer my applications and files from my older MacBook to the new MacBook when I start up my new MacBook. I am buying a Mac Air in a few days and I need to do the same but the new MacAir has no ethernet port. Can I, therefore, use this accessory to transfer my files/applications from my current MBP to the new Mac Air which I will order?
