When using this cable, will my AirPort Express recognize my external USB drive as a network drive?
I know that the AirPort Express is not designed to work that way, but thoretically it should still recognize a network drive.

Best AnswerSometimes you actually do need 2 working Ethernet ports. I can think of many applications for 2 ports.
Many network firewalls use one port for incoming traffic and the second for outgoing traffic.
With that said the adapter does work on a MacBook Pro, but this may change in future updates.- Answered by Daniel B from Maryville

Best AnswerThe speed of USB 2.0 is 480mbps. That's the limiting factor. There are a couple of third party Gb Ethernet-to-USB adapters, but they are not running at truly Gb Ethernet speed.

AnswerYes, it is always better to use a hardwired connection for video streaming. However, there are many possible reasons for a video stream to freeze/buffer so this may not solve your problem.

Print to an HP5000DN via it's ethernet connection.
I have a MacBook Pro 17 that prints fine to the printer via the printers own IP address, but I want to print from the ethernet challenged Retina MBP 15. I tried using it on the already working MBP 17, but it didn't recognize the printer. Will it work? And do I need different settings when using the adapter versus the built-in ethernet?

I don't have ethernet lines out in the country. I just have the regular phone line. Will this work for me?
- Asked by Brenda N from Madoc

Best AnswerNot by itself. You need to set up a broadband ADSL account with an internet service provider to supply your house with internet access via your telephone line. that connection will involve a modem/router device that connects to your telephone cable (on the modem part) and also has ethernet port(s) (on the router part).
With the account set up and the modem/router plugged in to your phone line, you'll then be able to plug ethernet capable devices (or devices connected to this adapter via a usb 2.0 port) into the modem to connect to the net.
This is the same procedure needed when connecting to broadband via ethernet in the city as most houses only have the regular phone lines there as well.- Answered by Gregory P from Ovingham

Dose the Apple USB Ethernet Adapter use dynamic MAC address or one single unique MAC address?
I need to use my Macbook Air to access university ethernet network, since that need to register the MAC address to the university first, I want to know if this USB ethernet adapter is using one single MAC address all the time or generate a dynamic MAC address. Thanks!
