No. I just took mine to England where they also have 220s. There is a converter built in to the adapter already. You just need the right plug to snap on to the front.

Yes you should be able to. apple chargers use smart charging technology and the macbook air will only take the power it needs.

No. If you run some demanding software, it might not charge the laptop while you're using it heavily, but otherwise, it works fine with 60W adapters.

Yes it will work because the model A1278 is a MacBook Pro 13-inch, and the 60W is the charger that comes in the box

You will not need to use a converter, your MagSafe Power Adapter that came with your laptop will automatically regulate the 230-240 volt power that is common in the UK and throughout Europe. You will however need an adapter that will allow you to plug in your US three prong grounded plug into the standard UK 2 prong outlet. Always remember to plug the Apple MagSafe Power Adapter into the UK outlet prior to connecting it to your computer. It’s just a "good practice" safe guard against any power spikes before connecting it to your computer. I have lived in Europe, the Middle East and Asia for fir the last 5 years and have never had an issue when using the standard macbook pro power cord with the appropriate plug adapter for that region.

If you hold the two power supplies side by side, you’ll notice that the MacBook Pro’s is larger. That’s because the MacBook Pro uses an 85-watt power supply, while the MacBook uses a 60-watt power supply. Apple says you can use the more powerful, 85-watt power supply with a MacBook without any problems, and that in 80 percent to 90 percent of situations, you can use the MacBook’s power supply with the more-demanding MacBook Pro as well. If you’re really taxing the MacBook Pro’s processor with some heavy-duty work, the MacBook’s adapter will still be able to power the MacBook Pro—but it may not have any power left over to charge its battery.

I tested it with my killowatt meter and read 0watts when macbook fully charged or unplugged.

The version number you have given is for the Operating System, which is software, not hardware. Chargers are dependent on hardware requirements.

However, assuming that you have a White MacBook 13-inch, the 60W Charger will work fine, as the MacBook was one of the first to adopt the MagSafe power connector.

no this will not work with the 15" macbook pro with retina display because the 15" macbook pro with retina display uses more power so it requires a more powerful charger and also because the charging head is different on the charger for the 15" macbook pro with retina display since the body became thinner

Yes. This adapter will work just fine. For your 17" MacBook Pro make sure you buy the 85W adapter though.
