My A1222 charger has just died, does this product replace it or do I need to replace it with what I had originally? I have a May 2008 17" MP

Yes. I have same laptop as you, and I have a new one, the new charger, charges both.
The old charger, the one that died on you only charges the older laptop. You can find the old ones online but every add is sketchy, it's either not an original apple model and they trick you or sneak in the "compatible" word, or it's a refurbished and it's missing either the short plug, or the extender cord, you should get both otherwise it's not worth it.
This current model works, I've charged my old system with it many times, but I still have the old one working too.
Like many others mention the key is that you need 85W and both the old and this new one are 85W.- Answered by Jason B from Las Vegas

I have a MacBook Aluminum 13". Which Power Adapter is best to use, the 85W or 60W? Is there any downside to using the 85W?

You don't need more than the 60W so you're not losing out. The 85W gives you a little buffer is all. The 60W is the standard for the 13" Macbook and Pro.

Answer
Yes you can. The white block on the Apple power adapter will convert the voltage for you. The Kensington just make sure it fits in the socket. The Kensington Travel Plug just saves you from having to buy the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit.

Is a power adapter the same as a charger? My charger is always on green light but the battery stays at 0%..

Answer
Sounds like your problem could be a bad battery. If you try a separate charger and the issue persists, then it is definitely the battery. If a new adapter resolves the issue, then you have your answer.

What power cable will I need if I move to Australia?
I might be moving to Australia next year, and I'm wondering what i will need to charge my Macbook over there. I am currently living in Canada, and I own a 15" (White) Macbook.

The power adapter that came with your MacBook should be suitable for 100 - 240v AC 50/60 Hz. All that you will need to change is the actual head that sits on the power adapter. In Australia (240v 50Hz), we use two angled pins with a third earth pin (the earth is not required for double insulated appliances like your MacBook power adapter).
The head for the power adapter for Australia is 603-7715 or for a complete 1.8m power lead with head is 590-5259.- Answered by Greg S from Penshurst

Will this Charger works with All previous models of Macbook Pro? Core Duo and Core 2 Duo.
- Asked by Francis L

Best Answer
No. It will not work with some older models. The newer metal grey MagSafe connector which has the cable in line with the body of the connector is slightly smaller than the older white plastic MagSafe connector where the cable sticks out at 90 degrees. Make sure you buy the same type as the original adaptor that came with your Mac. Use part number MA938B for the old-style adaptor.

I'm wanting an extra power adapter for my 2009 13" MacBook Pro what is the correct wattage?
- Asked by Mary Anne C from San Antonio
- Aug 7, 2011
- Flag as inappropriate
Answer
First answer not exactly correct. The 60 watt charger is the standard charger that comes with the 13 inch MacBook Pro, but the 85 watt charger will also work. Theoretically the 85 watt charger might last longer, definitely it is more flexible in that it works with more devices. Since they cost the same amount, the only drawback I could see to going with the 85 watt charger is that it takes up more space.

Can I use the 45W adapter to power my 13" MacBook Pro?
I've read that I can use the 45W adapter from my old MacBook Air to power my 13" MacBook Pro, but that it will only provide power and not recharge the battery. True? Safe to do?

240 volt compatibilty
is this unit compatible with Italy's 240 Volt outlets?
- Asked by Lester K from Fort Worth

Answer
Electrically: Apple's MagSafe adapters are labelled for AC input of "100-240V 50/60 Hz". They should work worldwide. (Mine does).
Physically: Most of Italy uses European-style two-round-pin AC sockets. There are local variations - some sockets have earth/ground connectors also, though the Magsafe adapter does not need this. You can get many converters to convert from US flat-blade mains plugs to Euro-style sockets. Best is to use the correct Euro-plug to fit directly on the MagSafe in place of (say) the US flat-blade AC plug. Second-best is to use a lead from Magsafe's own Figure-8 AC connector to the wall socket. This prevents the weight of the Magsafe dragging itself out of the wall outlet.
Air Transport: You should carry your adapters with you so that you can power-up your laptop for security at any airport you pass through.- Answered by Gerald W

I have a new MacBook Pro 15" and I travel to China often. How do I get a plug for the Chinese socket? Not the whole power supply but the cord?
- Asked by Kevin T from Suwanee

Answer
The Apple world travel kit doesn't work with all Chinese sockets. Some Chinese sockets will accept the US 2 prong plug (220V though). Other Chinese sockets will accept the Australian slanted 2 prong plug. Both of these are in the Apple world travel kit.
The trouble is that in many areas, the Chinese socket require a 3 prong plug that resembles the Australian slated 2 prong plug with an added 3rd prong for a ground. This type of socket works like the British or Hong Kong 3 prong sockets. The male ground plug must be slightly longer than the other two prongs. This longer ground prong is necessary to trip the protector that lets the other 2 male prongs enter the socket.
The Apple world travel kit doesn't provide an adapter for this type of socket. If that is the socket you need, you're better off using your US plug and buying an adapter in China.- Answered by Robert R from Fayetteville

What are included in the 45W Magsafe Power adapter model A1374? Does it come with the 2 pin plug in?
I just purchased a new extra adapter and the 2pin plug is not included in the box although the picture in the box as well as the brochure inside are showing it. I specifically bought the adapter for the 2 pin plug. Please clarify.
