Best AnswerNo, the Airport is not a modem. It is a router. That means you have to plug from your existing modem into the Airport. The purpose of the Airport is to convert your wired modem into a wireless signal. If you already have a combo modem/wifi router then this device will not replace it. It may be capable of boosting your signal strength if you are having a weak wifi signal in your home though. NOTE: research compatibility of the devices first.

Answer
Absolutely! THe Extreme can wirelessly extend to another wireless router (Bridge mode). As long as you enable ETHERNET. THe additional router (such as Airport Express) makes stronger wireless signal over the entire dwelling or office, and then allows you to use the ethernet port and the USB port, such as, a network printer or shared drive Or another PC or whatever. Highly recommend it. Two extremes together would give you 8 Ethernet ports in addition to multiple wireless clients. Depending on your ISP; where I am, is fibre optic. I think it allows 67 or so?? Can't remember. But plenty. I've used this setup extensively in different locations. Seamless, and easy to set up. Can't go wrong with apple equipment in my humble opinion. Cheers!

Can I use this as my wireless router when I travel abroad? By just plug in the Phone line in it?
I'm planning to bring it abroad during my travel to Japan. My hotel room has provided wired Internet. So can I just plug the Internet cable to it instead of plug in to my laptop to create wireless for my IPad .

Best AnswerI have the old AirPort Express, and I can (using personal hotspot) wirelessly tether my iPhone 4, and send the signal through my house. I have nothing plugged into the AirPort Express, and it works amazing. I think your question relates to using the USB port on the AirPort Express. My guess is "no".
Now, for those of you wondering why I don't simply use my personal hotspot iPhone 4 as the router and disregard the AirPort Express? The reason is because the iPhone 4 drops any connected devices after a few minutes of inactivity. With the 'pulsing' ping of the Airport Express, it stays connected all of the time. For anyone who wishes to do the same, keep in mind that the AirPort Express counts as a device connection. When I turn-on my whole system, 3 devices appear as 3 connections on my "Personal Hotspot" banner. One is the Airport Express, another is my MacBook Pro, and the third is my wireless printer. There is a maximum of 3 devices that can be connected by wifi using the setup that I'm using. When I need to connect my Apple TV, I just turn-off the printer to free-up a device.- Answered by Jason S from Barrie

Provided I connect this with an audio cable, I can send music from iTunes on my iPad to play on my older (5 yo) mini hi-fi?
My hi-fi is an LG, about 5 yo, has dual AV inputs on back exactly as described in Airport Express user manual, so shouldn't be a problem to connect it. Can play music from a USB stick & can play from CDs burned on a computer (my previous one couldn't).
Am hoping this will enable me to play my iTunes music from my iPad, trying to avoid need to buy new, expensive dock for iPad to get good music quality!- Asked by Jenifer R from New Town

I want to replace my 10yo Dlink Router. Will Airport Express BS work with windows 7 32bit on laptop, and Fusion on Mac Mini running Lion 10.7.5

AnswerWindows 7 is able to configure the base station as well as Lion. Now in Fusion, if Lion has a connection, Fusion will install the appropriate network driver into 7 for the virtual machine to get internet access. Windows7 should have no issues seeing or working with the Express, in a VM or a physical machine...

AnswerYes, I've take both the latest one and the previous one to the UK and used them both successfully there, they work across 110 to 240 volts no problem. you just need an adaptor as the sockets are different between the two countries.

does this new airport express support AirPrint?

Best AnswerThe Airport Express does support wireless printing, but does not support "Airprint." Airprint is printing from an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod). This device does not allow printing from an iOS device. It will only print from a PC or Mac. PC printing will require Bonjour for Windows.
