Can the new AirPort Express extend an existing network with an ethernet cable from AirPort Extreme to Express's WAN port?
Can the new (June 11 2012) AirPort Express Base Station extend an existing network by connecting an ethernet cable from an AirPort Extreme to the Express's WAN port, thereby making the Express both a wireless access point and also an ethernet port via its LAN part?

Best AnswerYes, you just have to turn off the DHCP server (I think it's called "Off, bridge mode" - BTW, that's complete networking nonsense). I have it like that with the original Express and it works like a charm :) And if you have static IPs (if you don't know what that means - you don't) you have to set them up on the Extreme.

Does this come with an adapter for the coaxial cable? Or does one need a router to use Airport Express?

Can you use the Airport Express system to link to play music straight through from the Iphone to a normal hifi that only has a standard audio input?
I have a speaker system that only has an audio stereo cable input (left right stereo cable) and want to be able to play music through the wifi to this speaker set. Is this possible?
The base system doesn't seem to have the required outputs to make this happen.
Thanks- Asked by Martin G

Best AnswerYes, you can. The AirPort Express Base Station has a 2.5mm headphone audio-out port. By purchasing a 3rd-party 2.5mm "headphone-to-RCA" cable, it will be able to plug into your speaker system.

Best AnswerYes but there is a delay with the sound. It's just as you are using AirPlay with just audio output rather than both av.

Existing wifi network - connection to speakers and sky boy
I have a wifi network in my house, powered by a wireless router next to my telephone socket.
In a totally different room, I have some ipod speakers and a sky box next to each other. The existing wifi signal is strong here.
What I want to do is:
1) Play music from iPhone iTunes over wifi to the existing speakers and
2) Connect my sky box to the internet via its Ethernet port.
Can I do this using a AirPort Express Base Station?- Asked by William J

Best AnswerYes that will work for you.
Just make sure to run the setup utility when you get the Airport Express so that it joins the existing network (more reliable to just join it than try and join and extend the network) and to enable the AirPlay function.- Answered by Ian D

Can I extend the range of a Belkin-based wifi network?
Where I live we have a wifi network with a Belkin modem. The signal is very weak in my area. Could a new Airport be used to extend the range? I have an older Airport Express and Airport, but when I have tried to use them to accomplish this, it seems they are not compatible with non-Apple modems. Is the new Airport Express different in this regard?
