Can it be used to draw things?
I'm assuming that it can also work as a tablet type thing so that you could draw a picture with it or something.

Best AnswerGiven the look of the product, the pictures showing a hand using it, and descriptions of its functionality being basically the same as what the built-in trackpads on the MacBooks currently do, the answer is probably no. It's really just bringing the gesture functionality (scrolling, swiping, etc.) that the MacBooks have made part of the Mac experience to desktop Macs.
Using that reasoning, it probably will not work like a tablet in the sense of using a stylus (except a specialize conductive one perhaps), absolute position tracking, pressure-sensitivity, eraser function, etc. However, you could use it to draw things in the same way you can use a MacBook trackpad to draw things: not very well, but some people can do better with patience and practice.- Answered by Collin O from Sacramento

Can it be used on a soft surface, such as a bed or pillow? Will a click register, since the little feet might not compress?
- Asked by Marston C from Chicago
- Jul 27, 2010
- Flag as inappropriate
Best AnswerYes you can use it on a soft surface. You will need to go into the Track Pad Preferences and configure it to detect the double tap gesture as a mouse click. Once that is set, you won't need to have it sitting on a hard surface to click or click and drag on items. I don’t personally like the “feet” click feature so I choose not to use it.

I know you can change a setting on Windows 7 to display Traditional Chinese but how would I use this trackpad to actually write chinese with my finger. Is there a preference setting in Windows 7 to accept finger brush strokes as chinese text?

Will Magic Trackpad work with Adobe products?
- Asked by Jeffrey T from San Jose
- Oct 11, 2010
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerThe Magic Trackpad is simply an input device that controls the cursor, like any mouse. Therefore it transcends individual applications and instead feeds back to the OS. If you can use the cursor in Adobe products, you can use the Trackpad.
As for multitouch gestures, this would depend on any gestures built in to Adobe products. Refer to the applications' help guides for more information about this. The Trackpad WILL work as a 'mouse' though.- Answered by Dom D

Can you use this to draw/write/sign?
If I am in an app (like PDFPen), can I use this to write my signature?

Best AnswerThe Magic Trackpad is essentially the same trackpad found on the MacBook line of notebooks. While there isn't a built-in capability to support use as a drawing tablet, a third-party could create a plug-in or application to support such a feature.

Does Trackpad work on 2 different OSX connected to the same iMac?
I did install an external HDD with a second OSX. I notice the trackpad works on the OSX which discovered it first. It can not be coupled through both envirronements

AnswerOn your external HDD (assuming it's 10.6.4 or better(1)),
-establish a bluetooth connection to the Magic Trackpad
-run software update (menu: Apple/Software Update...)
(1) if you're running an older MacOS on the HDD, you're probably out of luck.- Answered by Chris S from San Jose

Does magic track pad work for a disabled person with only one arm.
- Asked by Maximillian E from Monterey Park
- Feb 17, 2011
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerI think we will need more information to answer this question, but I will try.
The magic trackpad is an ambidextrous device that requires one hand to operate. It is touch sensitive, and will respond to touch from any part of the body (foot, elbow, etc.) Obviously without the flexibility of fingers it will be a simple point and click device, but it may still be easier to operate for those with limited movement. (Going into a store to try one out is likely your best bet.)- Answered by David K from San Jose

are you able to invert the x and y axis's?
i have a black macbook.
im wondering if it would be possible to change the settings so that i can use the pad in a different way..
i would like to be able to use it but placing it over the top of my current track pad. i see this being easiest by turning the pad around so the battery rail is closest to the user and the (bottom) of the pad is almost touching the spacebar..
i also believe this would keep the track pad more level.- Asked by Stephen K from Delano

Answerno, you cannot flip the axis.
maybe in a future update they will allow for it, but at present, there is no way.- Answered by Anthony-paul H from Coburg
