Answer
No. The old white remotes did. It had magnetic properties inside the remote. Apple have now designed the newer aluminum remotes to not have any magnetic parts. Also the screens of the iMacs had also magnetic parts in side the edges of the screens. Apple have also removed them in the newer models.

I already have an apple remote for my existing macbook 13" (Bought Feb 08)

Answer
You wont need to buy a new remote if you already have one, the old one will work fine with your new Mac Pro.
If you did have both MacBooks running at the same time, the remote would to control them both at the same time.
Hope this helps.- Answered by Robert N

Will this remote work with my bowers & wilkins zeppelin?
- Asked by Robin G

Answer
This depends on the model. Check the operating system on the aft starboard porthole by spinning the wheel right until you see "About this zeppelin" appear. Then post the horsepower, prop count, and operating system and we can determine whether your zeppelin will respond. Probably will. My 1939 B&W does.

Can you use the apple remote for an Open Office presentations?

Answer
Yes you could... But you would have to go in an map the arrow keys to keys on your keyboard. An easier way to do this would be export the Open Office presentation to keynote then download the Remote app for iPhone and control it using that.

Can this remote be used when there is no line of sight to the mac? Is there a Bluetooth option?
- Asked by Jay P from Woodford Green

Answer
There is no Bluetooth option, yet. You do not require line-of-sight to successfully operate the Apple Remote; the infra-red signal is strong enough to reflect off nearby surfaces. I have successfully controlled devices up to 30 feet around sharp corners with no direct line of sight using the reflected signal from white walls. (Darkly-colored walls will not reflect well.)

Best Answer
As long as you can see your Mac or the iPod Universal Dock it will work. Most likely if you can't see it, it won't work. Most likely the maximum distance you can be away from it is around 30 feet I believe.
