using apple remote with plex
Hi All!,
As OS/X Lion doesn't feature FrontRow - does anyone know whether the Apple Remote will work with Plex?
(or recommend a good media player that will!)
Cheers!- Asked by Martin S from Helensvale

Best AnswerYep, I can confirm it works no problems, I run plex via a macbook pro plugged into the TV and it can sleep/wake the macbook and start plex all via the remote. You can run macbooks closed (clamshell mode) connected to the TV etc and they will still wake via the remote, mine does.

AnswerNo it cannot change the language of the media your watching/listening too. It doesn't have that much functionality. You would need something like the new Apple Mouse.

I wonder if the black circle is sensitive, like an iPod nano for example. Thanks.

AnswerIt's not a touch-wheel. It's just a re-design. 'Scrolling' around the circle does nothing.

Will this remote work with streaming video?
There are a variety of players used for streaming video, so I guess my real question is: Can this remote operate as a mouse/navigate online?
- Asked by Jessica S from Manitowoc

Best AnswerYes, and no. It depends on the application that you're trying to control. You won't be able to control Safari with the Apple Remote, but you can control Hulu Desktop with the Apple Remote (I currently do this with my Mac Mini media center). The Apple Remote won't operate as a mouse. It will more or less work with programs that use standard keyboard commands (like spacebar to play/pause, etc.)
There are also applications you can download that will allow you to customize the way that the remote commands are interpreted by the computer and different programs (i.e. Remote Buddy), so feel free to check those out and see if they meet your needs.- Answered by Greg S from Auburn

Can I use this with two different Apple Computers At the Same Time? (MacBook Pro & iMac newest models)
- Asked by George S from Milford

Best AnswerThis product can be used on multiple products, all you have to do is enable the remote feature in System Preferences under the security section. once this is done, point the remote at the IR sensor on your computer and hold the menu and right button for 5 seconds (you should see two links chained together) to pair the remote. Repeat this process for all the products that you want this remote to work with. Note that if you have multiple products in the same room and you push a button on the remote, it will send a signal to all the products and they will react appropriately...
