AnswerYes. They both work as separate entities. The iPhone works through your home network, and the Apple remote would work as a normal remote would.

If your product is named exactly "Macbook Pro" it will work 100% since every "Macbook Pro" ever shipped has a IR sensor in it.

AnswerYes, because your iPod does not have have an IR receiver (which is what the remote works with). You have to have the dock with the remote for everything unless you are using it with your new Mac, or speakers that specifically say that they are compatible with apple remote.

I wanted to get the Apple Remote for my boyfriend as a Christmas gift. He has an iHome, an iPod, and an iPhone, but he does not have a Mac computer. Will the remote work on the apple devices he has if he does not have a Mac?
