AnswerNo it's just a charger/stand. The only port on the back is just like the port on the bottom of the iPad itself.

Best AnswerI tried it on today as well, with a 3GS, but the bottom is a bit tight, and the angle of insertion is slight slanted. I didn't want to put it on there too long, fearing that it might have damage to the charging port of my iphone. 3GS and 3G are same in terms of dimension. Has your iphone's port change in any way?

Recommend a case (Apple or third party) that DOES work with the iPad dock?
The dock is cool; esp. like the audio out. Stereo in the kitchen! :-) But I gotta have a case (11 yr. old lives here!)!

AnswerSpeck Candyshell Case seems to have a flap that just flips up to allow use of the dock or keyboard dock......I'll be getting one as love the candyshell on my 3Gs !

AnswerIf your speakers use mini-stereo plugs I don't see why the audio cannot drive the speakers (powered, of course, separately).

Answer
No -- it's just a stand with two connectors on the back. One looks just like the connector on the bottom of your iPad / iPod / iPhone and the other is an audio "line-out" jack that can be used to connect to powered speakers or an audio system.
The biggest barrier for regular use is that you have to remove all protective coverings from your device before it will fit in the dock.- Answered by James B from Westerville

Best AnswerYes, it will fit, but the cover does not sit flat against the front of the iPad 2 because the dock has a small lip at the front which gets in the way. So you have to move the flap out the way a little, which means turning off the iPad 2's cover auto wake/sleep feature. But at least you don't have to take off the whole cover...
