What I have found is you need to get the dock station extenders cord from apple or do a google search for a 30 pin male to female adapter cord.

Do you make Docking Stations for MacBook Pro laptops?
- Asked by Thomas J. M from Noblesville

Best Answer
Apple hasn't made a docking station for laptops since the mid 90's with the PowerBook Duo. Although if you happen to have the latest MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt, then the newly released (Jul 2011) Apple-branded monitor is the ultimate dock, with a MagSafe connector and Thunderbolt that connects from the display to the computer, then the back of the display has Firewire, USB2, and you get another camera on the display. It's not a dock, but it's still a very clean 2 plug solution.

How can I play movies from Itune on my Ipad, to my TV
- Asked by Jerry D from York

Assuming that you have an HDTV that accepts RGB HD connections, you can buy the HD Component Cable for the iPad and stream movies (movies from iTunes, movies that you have RIP'd from DVD's, movies that you might download, or any other type of video that can play on the device) to your TV. But your iPad must be close to the TV and you can't use a remote control this way. This is not convenient at all.
What is convenient and very cool is the Apple TV ($99) with a home networking system, your iPad, and an HD TV. Using the free app "REMOTE" made by Apple, you can completely control your Apple TV with your iPad wirelessly, anywhere in your home by using basically the whole screen for touch controls.
What is also cool with this setup is that you can watch any videos that you have on your computer as well as any videos on your iPad, or any videos that you have at YouTube, Flickr, and Netflix. You get to use the keyboard on the iPad to type for searching, to type for inputting your account information and such. Rather than using the remote control to slowly move the cursor around until you are on the right letter and then you have to click again just to register one letter, while if you use the iPad, you just simply type away very easily and much faster.
So it is much easier to use the Apple TV with an HDMI HD connection from the Apple TV to your HD TV makes for crazy clear video on your TV, and it operates wirelessly, anywhere in your home, and you not only can play anything on your iPad, but you can also play anything on your computer right from your iPad. Playing a video from your computer using your iPad via the Apple TV allows you to use your iPad for whatever you want while the video is playing. If you use any cables, you cannot use your iPad while a video is playing, and that is bad.- Answered by Brent T from Honolulu

can you use a flashdrive with the i pad
- Asked by Mark P from Marshall

Best Answer
No. The camera kit for the iPad has a USB connector. If you put in a USB type of thumb-drive then the iPad will show that it has insufficient power to power the drive. And I have tried a number of USB thumb-drives and none work. So once again, no, you cannot.

iPad Dock with Zagg Invisible Shield
Would it be possible to tell me if the iPad will fit in the Apple Dock with the front and back Zagg Invisible Sheild fitted? Thanks
- Asked by Russell W

Best Answer
Absolutely. The ZAGG Invisible Shield doesn't add any weight or bulk to the iPad, so the iPad will fit right into the dock as if there was nothing on it at all.

Yes, and in fact you can use any bluetooth keyboard (or USB keyboard if you use the slightly incorrectly named Camera Connection Kit). So far, however, only the official Apple Keyboard Dock includes keys for dedicated iPad functions, like the Home Screen, Screen Lock, etc.

Will this work with the cable that came with my iPod/iPhone?
- Asked by Plamen K from Lakewood
- Apr 26, 2010
- Flag as inappropriate
Best Answer
Yes, the cable works with both, but use the charger unit that came with the iphone to charge the iphone and the carger unit that came with the ipad to charge the ipad. The voltage delivered is different. If you are charging through USB to computer the cable will work for either.

Will the dock work with the iPhone 4?
- Asked by Josh W from Highlands
- Jun 22, 2011
- Flag as inappropriate
Answer
When I first opened it and tried to put my iPhone 4 on the dock, I didn't think it would work, but you have to put the iPhone on the dock at an angle and push it on, and it will work. The only thing is, the metal piece on the dock bends slightly, which doesn't seem to be that much of a problem. So yes, it does work with iPhone 4.

Can the dock hold the iPad in landscape format?
- Asked by Piers M from Edenbridge

Best Answer
It would be nice but unfortunately no. The dock features a connector that plugs directly into the iPad, the iPad however does not have a a connector on the side and therefore cannot be docked in landscape :)

Does the headphone jack work for both audio out and in?
I want to use a miked headset and use this a dock for my iphone.
- Asked by Will C from Chicago
- Oct 25, 2011
- Flag as inappropriate
Answer
I am answering my own question: I have an iphone dock and did not realize that it does have a headphone jack. It is specifically labeled "line out" and I think that about sums it up, when I tried to use my headset it still seemed to pull input audio through the phone's microphone, though the ouput audio on the headset did work.
So I am still looking for a dock product that will enable full wired headphone capability. If anyone wants to chime in and let me know if that will be a dead end, feel free to save me some work.- Answered by Will C from Chicago

Can this charge and sync an iPad (on a PC) at the same time?
For now, I either use my iPad USB cable to sync with my PC (and I am unable to charge) or I use the 10W power adapter to charge (and I am unable to sync). Does this dock has some kind of dual connection at the back that allows to connect at the same time to a USB port of a PC and at the same time to a strong power source?
- Asked by Regis D from Pierrefonds
- Jun 15, 2010
- Flag as inappropriate
Best Answer
No -- the back of the iPad dock has just two connectors, one for the standard Apple iPhone/iPod/iPad USB cable and one for speakers. As you have learned, that USB cable can either be connected to your PC or to the charger. Because computer manufacturers (even Apple) did not anticipate having a device that pulls as much current as the iPad, most USB ports were designed for 0.5 amp output (the iPad charger is rated at 2.2 amps). Many later model machines have been designed with sufficient output to charge higher current devices such as smart phones and iPads, but at a much slower rate than the dedicated charger.

Is there an iPad case and/or cover that is compatible with the keyboard docking station?
You can not place the iPad on the keyboard docking station if the iPad is in a protective case including the basic case sold by Apple.
