I found the average to be an hour for every 25% so about 4 to 4 1/2 hours to fully charge your iPad from completely empty.

Can an itouch or iphone charger charge the ipad?

I have read some posts of people complaining that the itouch or iPhone chargers will not work for the iPad but this is not necessarily the case. I have been using my itouch charger from day one just to have my iPad cord on hand in case something happens to the itouch cord. It has been working just fine for me. It could potentially take a hair longer to charge since the iPad needs more power than an iPhone or itouch. Also, I have found that my car charger that I had previously for my iPod nano and touch will also work to charge the iPad. Just a thought. Hope this has been helpful.

Yes, in a roundabout way. There are some limits:
1. It has to be self powered
2. It can only sync pictures (no viewing/editing/copying documents)
3. It CAN sync pics, but only if in a DCIM folder (what a camera creates)

Answer
iPad charger (come with iPad 1) + original Samsung Tab 7.7 cable, does not charge Samsung Tab 7.7
the Samsung Tab 7.7 will recognize this connection as data connection. The battery will display a thunder (charging) plus a cross (x) at the bottom.
In the system info, you will find the battery status is not charging at all.
If you leave the device untouch (screen off without doing much in the background), EVENTUALLY the device will get charged, but in extremely long time (compare to the original Samsung charger)- Answered by Pong Yin S

can I use this 10W adapter to charge my iphone or ipod as well?
- Asked by Jing K from New York
- Apr 28, 2010

Best Answer
Yes; the key to this charger is that it has a maximum "draw" of 10W (2A at 5VDC). Other devices still use the 5VDC supply, but draw at much lower amperages. This will not cause a problem for a device that has a lower draw.

Is there a more powerful charger for the IPad 2 that charges faster?
- Asked by Caroline H from Danville

Best Answer
No. In the same way that plugging your iPhone into this 10w charger causes the iPhone to only draw 5w and charge at the correct speed, using the iPad with a bigger charger would do the same thing with the iPad. If the Charger was created in such a way that the intelligence was disabled and allowed more than 10w to pass into the battery of the iPad, it would damage it. These kind of chargers can be bought by grey suppliers but since the iPad battery is non replaceable it is not recommended to charge it in a manor that is not supported by the manufacturer especially in this case.

Is the Ipad charger more powerful than the iphone charger?
- Asked by Kevin B from Eunice

Best Answer
The iPad charger is rated at 10 watts, the iPhone's is rated at 5 watts.
You can charge the iPad using the iPhone charger but at a slower rate; on the other hand, you can charge the iPhone with the iPad charger and it will still charge at the normal iPhone rate, not any faster.
It is not true that using an iPad charger to charge an iPhone, as it is also fine to charge the iPad with an iPhone charger (it just takes longer). While we're on the topic, charging from your computer's USB port (2.5 watts) is also fine but will take even longer to charge (basically the more wattage the faster the charge, up to the maximum draw of the device).
One last point, when asked by friends I always recommend only connecting Apple approved accessories to my iDevices.- Answered by Michael U from Baltimore

How can I tell the difference between an Ipad charger and an Ipod charger?

Best Answer
Just check for the voltage on the bottom of the charger. If it says 2W or 3W it's an iPod charger. 5W it's an iPhone charger and 10W is an iPad charger.

Does the iPad2 need a special power adapter? I tried a universal adaptor & cord...a warning said it was not charging.
While traveling, I packed a universal charger instead of the charger that came with my iPad2, so I could charge all of my electronics. A notice showed that it was not charging. I also wanted to use my iPod car charger, but I got the same message. Now what?
(When I couldn't use the new charger and its cord, I used the adapter and my iPad cord, and it worked, but that meant that I paid for a useless cord so I returned it). My iPad2 was running out of power and I couldn't power it until I got home.
Why won't my adapters & cords work with the iPad2?- Asked by Anita N from Greenville

Best Answer
The iPad2 and iPad(1) need 10-watt power to charge, with third-party adapters (I have one from Belkin - three 3-prong AC plus two USB ports) the USB ports probably put out less than 10-watt, probably 500 ma ~ 1 amp which is not enough to charge iPad but perhaps enough to maintain existing charge level.
If your iPad is 40 percent charged it will probably stay at 40 if connected to third-party charger unless it specifically states 2.1 amp USB.- Answered by Kelvin K from Davis
