Using this moniter primarily as a photographer for editing is it easily calibrated with a spyder pro3 due to the glossy screen??

Best AnswerI have the 27" iMac which has the same glossy display as this display, and I've had no issues calibrating it with my Spyder3Pro. In my experience, the pre-calibrated screen was only slightly warmer than the Spyder calibrated version, which tells me the default calibration was quite good.

vertical display for the Aplle LED Cinema Display 27"
Hello everyone ,
Can anyone tell me if I can use this display with a vertical setting ? I need to work on my photos with my 2007 and 2008 iMac 24",or with my macbook Pro, but I would like to see the photos/result of the pictures on the extra cinema display 27 " just near my iMac, with the 27" cinema display standing vertical and showing a vertical image.
Does it have the same feature as the newst iPhones and iMacs, allowing a vertical display of the panel screen and of the photos ?
Is this possible ? Can it be done ? Any restriction ?- Asked by I D

Best Answeryou can change the resolution but the cinema display stand wont allow you to rotate the actual monitor.
you'd have to get the vesa mount adapter and a vesa stand that supports rotating to wake it work.- Answered by Ellen M from Houston

AnswerYes, just connect your 15-inch MacBook Pro to the 27-inch Cinema Display via the mini-DisplayPort and then you can use the full 2560x1440 resolution at the 27-inch Display immediately.

Answer
Yes. While it does not include the updated FaceTime HD camera, it still has the iSight camera built in. This gives you the same functionality as the FaceTime camera, except the quality is worse in the iSight camera.

Do I need a new video card?
I'm running a dual quad (Xeon processor) Mac Pro with NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT currently using 2 x 23" cinema displays and would like to upgrade to the new 27" screens which I've had for a while.... do I need a new video card for the new screens or is there an adapter that I can pick up so I can use the existing card?

Best AnswerI'm afraid you will.
There was a good Q&A on the old 24" screen page, but that's been taken down. There's cables to take DisplayPort source to DVI screens, but not the other way around. Something to do with the signal coding I believe.
In better news, BareFeats shows that the Radeon 5870 will work in your machine - good performance upgrade too! (see the Q&A under the 5870 card)- Answered by John L

My Imac 27 as a pc display
I have an Imac 27 that I want to use as a external display through the mini displayport. My PC has a Sapphire 5750 video card with displayport. I have a displayport to mini displayport cable suggested by apple tech support, however it is not working any suggestions?

Best AnswerI finally solved the problem. I first tried using the Atlona AT-HD400 with the 5750 video card would only work at 1280x720, I then tried the Atlona AT-HD620 Scaler, which worked but at 1980x1200 to fill the screen with poor quality graphics on the Imac 27. I finally bought a XFX6870 with mini displayport to mini display port cable and it is gorgeous picture works at max resolution perfectly.

AnswerI am not sure if yours uses the same mount. However, I have this monitor mounted on my wall and it uses a standard vesa 100 mount with the apple mount kit currently for sale.

Can it work with a New Apple TV?
- Asked by Nati N from Aranyaprathet

Best AnswerNo - the new Apple TV (and old Apple TV, for that matter) only support HDMI output - and this only supports Mini Displayport input. There are options to use a third party video format converter, but it'll likely cost $200+, so I suggest just buying another vendor's 27 inch display with HDMI input if that is your aim.

Does the new 27" monitor allow adjustments to color, contrast , brightness etc?
- Asked by Kyffin L from Richmond
- Sep 27, 2010
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerYes: using the "displays" option in system preferences you can adjust brightness with a simple slider, other options are available through the calibration menu - also in the displays panel. You do, however, have to instal the 27-inch LED Cinema Display Software Update 1.0, to get it all to work.
There are no adjustment options/menus directly available on the display itself- Answered by David H

What is the actual energy consumption as a monitor and not charging any other device?
- Asked by Dean B from Chico

Answerthe 165 watts seem very high. apple's 24" was rated at 78 watts at full brightness according to apple's environment report for the 24" LED. even if power consumption raised proportional to the amount of pixels (which i can't imagine being the case), the 27" would only consume about 50% more i.e. around 110 watts at full brightness.
