Is there any way to put a song file (mp3 or an m4a) in a track in Logic 9 to simply remove the drum tracks from that song?

Answer
This isn't possible in ANY software or hardware, digital or analog. The reason is when you have audio that has been mixed-down all the audio sources for the song have been combined. The reverse process, which is what you might be looking to do will require that the file has a way to present the unmixed sound so you can extract the source you need. That's not possible with an MP3 or M4A file.
Probably the non-technical version of this is: How can we extract the egg from a baked cake. It doesn't matter what tool you use. It won't happen.

Page 81 of the Logic Studio 8 User Manual states that Logic Pro Can be used as a lighting controller (Also in Logic 9), has anyone tried this? How?
This sentence is all I can find in all the manuals about using Logic and midi to control lighting. I have a DMX Operator Pro with midi IN and would like to try this on live gigs while using Logic. Does Anyone have any experience with this? I'm sure there would be better software for lighting, but since Apple has said that it can perform this function I would like to explore the possibility. I have a few Par 64's and some design Spot 250's that I want to control. Any suggestions?

Can I put the optional content on an external drive, and just retrieve it as needed?
It says the applications only take up 9 GB of space but the optional content takes up 38 GB.
I was thinking of installing the apps on my computer and then putting the optional content on an external drive. So there is not 40 GB of dead space on my internal drive. And then when I would play around with the added content just plug in my external drive.
Would that physically work...if so would it be slow??
...also would it need the added files anytime i use it? Like if I used one on the jam pack voices and then disconnected my drive, the song that I used it with wouldn't work because the jam pack file is stored on a unconnected drive?
Just wondering how that would work out for me?- Asked by Mathew W from Harleysville

Can you upgrade from Logic Studio 9 EDU to the full version?
- Asked by David A from Gold Coast
- Jul 8, 2010

Answer
The rules for eligible upgrade versions are:
"There are two Logic Studio upgrades available: the upgrade from an earlier version of Logic Studio or Logic Pro; and the upgrade from Logic Express. Academic and Not-For-Resale (NFR) versions are not eligible for either upgrade."
As the EDU version is an academic version, then unfortunately the answer is no.- Answered by Adam R from Townsville
