AnswerLogic can act as a host for Reason using Rewire. Rewire is not something you need to set up, if you have Reason and Logic installed, then all you need to do is load Logic then Reason. All going to plan, when you look on Reasons output device it should say Rewire ***** mode. (The word in ***** is banned on this page!? I'm sure you'll figure it out though).
From there it gets a little bit fiddly assigning the tracks and Reason's outputs. Not too fiddly and there are good videos for it on YouTube. Set up right using the combination is fairly intuitive.- Answered by Philip W from Wellington

AnswerI just bought the MB798Z/A upgrade and it worked fine with my Logic Platinum 6 XSKey, just insert the XSKey during installation, it won't ask for the key after sucessful installation, should work for Logic Platinum and Gold 5 or 6 original XSKey, says the manual.

Logic Pro 7 to Logic Studio 9?
hello ... just ask if i can upgrade from Logic Pro 7 to Logic studio 9. i recently bought a new iMac and installed Logic Pro 7 on it ... it won't open. If i install the L9 upgrade, will it then work and function properly?

What basic set-up will I need to buy to record live music for Logic 9?
I'm not that computer savvy and most of these questions sound like martian to me! I just want to know what I will need to buy to use Logic Pro 9 so I can figure that into my budget. I play guitar, sing and my husband plays fiddle. How does the live recording get recorded into the computer, via what? Do I need an extra separate recording system first? I have a new Imac. Please help!

A basic setup could be a anything from a couple of hundred to thousands, depending on the quality of gear you want to buy. With your Imac and Logic, you will need two things to record audio.
-- An audio interface
-- A microphone or an instrument with a pickup (guitar, bass, electric violin etc)
In layman's terms, an audio interface is a device that converts audio into a computer type signal and vice versa. Your computer does not understand an audio signal (guitar, vocals etc) so it needs a "translator" to do the job for it. So when you connect your instrument into an audio interface, it converts the audio signal into a digital signal which goes into Logic. What you hear playing back from your speakers is a digital signal converted into audio via your interface. Interfaces are key to how your studio sounds, so it's worth spending a bit of money on one.
I personally use a Presonus Firebox and I would definitely recommend it. It's a great audio interface for the price (around £180). You can get a cheap audio interface for as little as £60 but then the sound quality isn't great. It doesn't sound like you'll be needing an interface with a lot of features so get the simplest interface with the best preamps. I think the best small interface is probably the Motu Ultralite series which cost about £400.
To record vocals, you need a good condenser microphone. I have a Rode NT - 1000 and I'm very happy with it.
So to record vocals for example, you'll connect your condenser microphone to your audio interface, turn on phantom power (condenser mics need an external power source called phantom power which is in - built into every interface), connect your audio interface to your computer and then use Logic to record audio.

AnswerYes, the GarageBand add-ons do work in Logic. GarageBand is like the "light" version of Logic. When you start up a new project in logic, create a new track and under all of the categories of channel strips in Logic (such as Drums, Guitar tones, Synth) you'll see a list of anything from Garageband. And this isn't just in theory, I've personally used the symphonic add-on for GB in Logic.
As for the sheet music, any midi data can be opened in "score" view, which gives you sheet music. I can't speak for audio content, as I've never tried.- Answered by Robert C M from Portland

There has been no information provided by your website to confirm inclusiveness of any legendary synth models from Oberheim, Yamaha, Casio, Roland, Korg, Access as examples.

I have a Peavey 10-channel USB mixer. Will Logic Studio work with it?
I haven't purchased Logic Studio, but I plan to. My only drawback is the fact that I have no way of knowing wether my current equipment will work with it. Any help?

AnswerYou would need to purchase the Logic Studio upgrade kit for $199.99 since you already have the pro version. The Express version requires the $299.99 upgrade kit.

What is meant by "logic big box"? Is it Logic Audio 6 (big box) or a later version?
