My Macbook Pro is #A1226. Is this the correct replacement battery? Also, since this is an older laptop, will that somehow affect the battery life?

No, you want apple P/N: MA348LL/A. I just got a new one of these yesterday at the Apple store and on the first complete cycle I'm finding a battery life of between 4 and 5 hours. That's running with WiFi and bluetooth on and the display dimmed to 25% (3 ~ 4 dots) and the keyboard illumination off.
The laptop being older shouldn't affect battery life significantly. Perhaps, if the laptop was used in a dusty environment it might need more energy for cooling but I can't imagine that happening in an normal environment unless the laptop was 10+ years old.
I can see a new battery from Apple performing better than the original if they've adapted some of the new cell technology that they are using in the later MBP's to the older battery but that's a detail that you couldn't confirm without directly comparing the older and newer batteries.- Answered by Christopher H from Milford

Is this the right battery for a late 2008 unibody 13'' macbook?
- Asked by Dominik S from Chicago

Best Answer
Yes. The late 2008 unibody 13"macbook uses a 10.8 V 45 Wh battery part A1280. You can confirm this by simply removing the battery/hard disk lid and checking the fine print under the Apple symbol.

is there a privacy screen for macbook pro 13
- Asked by Josh K from Penfield
- Feb 6, 2010

Best Answer
Not really - depends on what type of MBP and privacy screen you have. The best is the 3M screen but it doesn't fit well on the late 2008 and later MBPs (the ones with the black display border). The older ones with the aluminum display border had a large border and the display was inset from the lid. The 3M screen sat in the inset over the display and used stick tabs to keep the screen in place. With no inset it becomes very hard to remove and re-attach the screen, which is a bother if you ever have to show slides or movies to another person. I still haven't found a way to reuse my 3M screen which I happily used on my older MBP because of this.

Answer
Yes. Check the model number on your battery (not the computer). If it says A1280, you're all set. You really have to zoom in on the picture to see this.

Is there an external battery that works with the Macbook Pro 13"?
I bought and just received my new Macbook Pro 13". When I bought it online, I also bought the external battery "assuming" it would work with this unit. I now realise, I think, what I bought will not work. (I have not yet received the battery, but the unit clearly is not made for a simple replacement. Is there an external battery that works with the Macbook Pro 13" I am now the proud owner of? Thanks in advance. JR

Answer
I have the late 2008 (October) aluminum Macbook as well (though I wouldn't refer to it as "old!). I still have the original battery, though it's definitely fading. In fact, that's why I'm looking at the reviews -- am thinking of buying one before Jan. 1.
So my battery, obviously, has lasted more than 3 years. I could get by, too, because I don't have to run it off the battery all that often.- Answered by Elizabeth O from Geneva

What is the difference between A1280 and MB771LL/A battery? Is the MB771LL/A an improvement over the A1280?
- Asked by Sean Y from Irvine
- Apr 6, 2012

Answer
I just got this battery in the mail today, and it indicates Model No. A1280, same as my old battery. The box says MB771LL/A as well as Model A1280. It's probably essentially the same battery, i.e. not an improvement.
It fit my 13" Late 2008 MacBook Aluminum Unibody.- Answered by Nicholas G from Madison
