Can the Apple Mic and Headset be used on a PC (computer, not MAC)
I was wondering if the apple mic can be used on a PC to make commentaries.
There are people on youtube who talk during the video with mics they plug in to the computer. I saw a tutorial of how to get Sony Vegas, and the person was on the computer the whole time, and he obviously used Windows Movie Maker or something to record this video and he used some sort of mic to record his voice. Can the Apple Remote and Mic be used for this also?- Asked by Rahman A from Lilburn

Warranty is 1 year when you buy at the Apple Store.
It is REALLY useful, because one of my heads started peeling and wires started showing. I took it to the store, showed them my receipt, and they just gave me a brand new one.- Answered by Jeff S from New York

The mic does not work with the ipod touch 1st generation. To get a mic for the first generation ipod touch, you will need one that plugs into the bottom of the ipod (the docking port) there are a few out there to pick from.

- Volume down
MIDDLE BUTTON:
1 click : play/pause
2 clicks: skip song
2 clicks and hold 2nd click : fast forward
3 clicks: go to beginning of song, if you are at the beginning of the song then it will skip to the previous song (same as skip back)- Answered by Andrew O from Essex

what does the warranty cover and how long is it?

One year warranty. Basically if you have any problem with these Apple will replace them. These seem more durable than the previous generation. Some problems that I've had in the past include one of the ear buds not working as good as the other one or developing static. I have also had them replaced because the rubber that lines the earbud (for comfort) has worn away and made it less comfortable. Apple stands behind their products!

Is there an external microphone I can use with the ipad when taking video
I have staff that are using the ipad to create and upload interviews taken in busy/noisy places (They are using it instead of a video camera becuase they always have it with them). If there was a way to use a lapel microphone it would improve the sound quality, but even a plug in external microphone would do. I considered using a set of headphones deisgned for the iphone and cutting of the ear plugs but I'm not sure if that would work either.

I clean all my headphones once a week by dipping a kleenex tissue in a solution of rubbing alcohol (drugstore kind) and wipe them down (ear buds, mic area, control buttons, etc.) Just don't saturate your kleenex too much. I never had any problems with this method as the alcohol evaporates really quickly, leaving your headphones sanitized naturally and clean :) Hope I helped!

I am interested in buying headphones. Is it possible to use two sets of headphones so two people can watch a movie on the iPad?

Yes. What you will need is a headphone splitter. There are ones that split into two headphone jacks, but there are also ones that have more. Keep in mind the more headphones attached, the worse the sound quality will be.

iPhone First Generation
I couldn't find a clear enough answer whether these earphones work properly (at least basic features) on First Generation iPhone - it's clear the jack is the same size but:
1. Does the mic work
2. Does the "answer call" button work
Thank you!- Asked by Ivan L

Can you mute a call using the earphones?
I have not used my my 3Gs in quite a while, my company gave me a stupid blackberry. At any rate, the cat ate my original earphones and I purchased another pair. However, when I press the earphone buton once, the call ends on the iPhone, but the same process will mute the call on the blackberry. I'm old, so maybe my memory is failing, but I remember my iPhone did the same with the original earphones, but not the new ones.

Can you adapt these headphones to a smaller jack (for cell phone use) and still have the mic function?
I ask because I bought an adapter through rocketfish and I can hear through it but the mic doesn't work with that adapter. Just trying to find something that will work for the slightly smaller headphone jack on my phone so I can both talk and hear with these headphones. (Mainly because they are comfortable).
