is there a Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter with a longer cord?
it seems in every picture and the one that i have that the adapter is available with only one cord length. it looks like it might be two inches/5cm? is there an adapter with a longer cord?

AnswerNo, but don't forget it's just an adaptor - it isn't supposed to be a "cord" as well. Because the other side of the adaptor is female VGA, you will still need a male-male VGA cable to run to your screen/projector - and that cable will come in a variety of lengths.

Can I use this device to run dual (Side-by-Side) monitors from an iMac?
If I use this adapter and an additional VGA monitor, can I set up the secondary monitor to serve as an extension of my desktop or will it only duplicate what appears on the primary screen?

Best AnswerMac OS X lets you configure a second display either way, and you can change back and forth anytime. You can mirror the first display, or have the second display serve as more screen space to extend the first display.

Does this adapter carry analog signals, converts it, or uses apple trickery?
This is really bugging me. I want to hook my unibody mbp up to my tv via composite cable. Composite is roughly the analog components of VGA. VGA is analog, correct? but the pin-out on the mini display port does not specify a dedicated analog path. but it does have vague reverences to non-video data lines (pin 2 and 4)
I have tried mini DP ->DVI-I adapter, to a DVI-I -> component cable with no success. (implying no analog present at all)
so, how is analog getting out of the port for VGA? is there a feedback resistor inside the adapter which is communicating with the video card to specify digital for the DVI-d adapter, and analog for the VGA adapter? what this all is implying to me is you only get analog out of the graphics card with a VGA adapter and only digital with the DVI-d.- Asked by Tucker P from Loveland

AnswerTo my awareness, VGA is only Analogue. The DVI Apple offers is the DVI-D version, and therefore digital. I don't know all the fancy terms for it, but in so many words as far as I'm aware, this is Analogue, and the DVI-D version Apple supply is the only Digital version they offer...

Best AnswerThis worked for me: look in your hard disk icon, you should see a link (folder alias) called "User Guides and Information", which should contain a Users Guide soecific for your computer model. One of its parts should be ports for your computer and that will tell you what kind of video output port you have.

Best AnswerYes. You can also use the Mini-DVI port on your Mac mini to plug a VGA monitor to it - then you would need the Mini-DVI to VGA Adapter.

AnswerA lot of things must be taken into account in a situation like this. I've had mixed experiences when it comes to long vga cables. There are different grades of quality for VGA cables. Also, since VGA is not a digital connection, you run the risk of gaining a lot of noise, and possibly not having a clean signal by the time the connection gets to the receiving device. You may want to do trial and error. I would recommend getting your cables and adapters from a store where you can return them if you end up being unhappy with the end results.

Will this allow me to output 1080i video from my MacBook Pro?
I would like to find a VGA to component video cable if this can output HD signals. My HDTV is older and does not have HDMI, only component video for HD input.

AnswerVGA can handle 1080p, but only high-end TV's can display 1080i or 1080p through VGA, the TV you have described seems doubtful.

WHAT ADAPTER IS NEED TO USE A DUAL (2) MONITOR SETUP FOR MAC MINI
I have MAC MINI (Serial #G87221GMWOD), MODELIDENTIFIER "macmini1,1", (1.83 GHz), Intel Core Duo, 2 cores, 2 GB.
I currently have one monitor. a ViewSonic
VA1903wSERIES:(LCD Display)
Resolution: 1440 x 900 @ 60 Hz
Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: Off
Online: Yes
Rotation: Supported
I would like to add another monitor similar to my current ViewSonic, except for a larger display (22").
As I am not technically inclined, not to mention I'm 81 years old, I would appreciate your information as to how to setup/attach the new monitor to my current setup. The end result being that both monitors display the same information.
I appreciate and thank you for any assistance may be able to pass along to me.
Very truly you,

Best AnswerHi Mr. Dreyer,
Unfortunately the model of Mac Mini that you have only supports one monitor. The new model that was recently released has two display outputs (Mini DVI and Mini DisplayPort) whereas yours only has one (Mini DVI).
I am unaware of any method for splitting that single display output to allow it to connect to two monitors. I'm very sorry

What adapter do I need to run my hp w2207h 22" monitor using my Macbook pro? I have read DVI to DVI then from that to another adapter DVI To VGA.
It should be as easy as using the Mini with the VGA adapter but I have read it does not work. The monitor has a HDMI port, is there an adapter that can be used from the HDMI to the MacBook Pro?

AnswerIf your monitor has HDMI, then use the Mini Display/DVI and the DVI/HDMI. It worked for me with the telly. No worries, as you need a digital signal only. When you buy the DVI/HDMI in your local electrical store make sure, that it matches the Apple adapter.

Mini Display Port to S-Video or Component Video adapter for new MacMini?
My TV has 3 HDMI ports: 2 on the back and one on the front. Cable and Blueray are plugged in the back. I have a new Mac mini hooked up to the front HDMI port but it does not look tidy. Is there a cable that I can connect the new Mac mini to the rear component or S-Video ports on the back of my TV?
