How do I connect my 32' Sanyo to my Macbook with a mini display port to VGA adapter
I have the mini display port to VGA adapter. I have the VGA to VGA cable ready. I just can't get any picture to my Sanyo HDTV. I must be missing something so I would love some help for this. If I could get the exact ports and places to go that would be preferred. Thanks

What would be the noticeable difference between connecting my 24" monitor to my MBP with a Mini DisplayPort->VGA vs. Mini DisplayPort->DVI?
I have always used a DVI cable to connect my computer to my monitor (with a DVI-I connection), but recently updated my MacBook Pro, and have realized that Apple has changed the connection they support. They only make Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D. The Apple genius at the store wasn't able to help me, or explain why they had made the switch. Right now I need to decide which connector to buy, and whether it makes sense to go out of my way to also get new DVI cables for my monitor setup.

AnswerI'd agree with Paul Moore. If you are in any way picky and/or knowledgeable about graphics, you will notice a fairly large difference. To me, the image using the VGA connection looks a little fuzzy, and the colors bleed a little bit. Not horrible, just noticeably better using DVI.

AnswerI've tried it with my eMachines Laptop (model 2008), and it does not work. Both the laptop and the iMac 27" keep switching and resetting their displays every 10 seconds, but neither displays the others' screen.
After buying this cable, I finally found some background information on what you and I wanted to achieve through Google. Try and search "Tests confirm Apple's 27 iMac only supports DisplayPort input" - it'll give you technical details on the compatibility issues with VGA. HDMI, DVI, and MiniPort standards when it comes to importing video streams to your iMac.- Answered by Laurens V
