will the new macbook 7 hour battery work in a three year old macbook?

Best Answer
Two problems:
1) The battery in the new MacBook is not supposed to be removable.
2) It will not fit in the original MacBook.
The "7hr battery" is pretty close in capacity to this battery, it's just that the new MacBook is a lot more energy efficient and that's why you can get up to 7 hours out of it. Even if you could take the battery out of the new MacBook and put it in your old one, you still would not be able to get 7hr of battery life out of it. My guess would be 4 maybe.- Answered by Angel A from Rio Linda

Can I use a unibody aluminum 13'' battery in my 13'' white macbook, or do I need to get a white 13'' macbook battery?
I am skeptical and do not want to remove it from the package for fear of the store not accepting its return.

The newest Macbooks have a higher-capacity battery and different power handling, so you shouldn't expect to get 7 hours from the "older" Macbook batteries. Maximum 5-6 hours, depending on what you're doing (heavy CPU usage, WiFi, bright screen, playing movies etc will bring that time down).

Yes, quite easily. Use a quarter to turn the slot next to the battery, and it will pop it out. Insert the new battery, and then turn the slot to lock it in.

STOP! Do not use your battery any longer. It could be a problem with your battery or charging system. Have your system checked by competent Apple authorized personnel! Battery swelling is not a good sign by any standards!!!

Answer
nope! to my knowledge, macbook air batteries aren't even replaceable, especially not with THIS particular battery! if you need a new battery, schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar, have them take a look at it, they'll know what to do.

Can this battery be charged by plugging into an outlet via a cord, or can it only be charged when installed in the computer?
Moving overseas to a developing nation where power is intermittent. Have a white MacBook with the battery that came with it. Still works fine, but looking for an extra battery to use in case I am without power for a bit. Would like to be able to charge it by plugging it into an outlet, instead of only housing it in the computer (that way I can charge them both simultaneously when I do have power).

The button and lights are to see how far your batter is charged. This is for if you're MacBook is off, or if it is charged some other way.
