Will a new battery help screen brightness on 08 white macbook?
Tried everything else to brighten the screen. Battery does need to be replaced, but will that help the brightness - doesn't differ much between plugged in or running on battery

Best AnswerNo. Just replacing battery will not brighten the screen. Use the F1 / F2 buttons to adjust brightness of the screen.

Best AnswerThere's no simple answer to this.
When mine was new it would give between 4 and 6 hours, but it depends heavily on a number of factors, like whether you're using Wi-Fi, the backlight brightness, what you're doing with it (eq surfing the web uses less processor power than watching video or editing photos).
Also, the OS version - when they released Snow Leopard Apple claimed a significant improvement in battery life.- Answered by Nick D from Stirling

Best AnswerWhat you'll need is to buy a rechargeable battery from apple for only $129.99. Then, follow the easy included installation instructions. The new battery will replace the old battery and it will also add an extra 2 1/2 hours of extra battery life onto what you're used to.

Best AnswerMy guess is that your battery's health is way low. Find out the condition of your battery here:
Apple Menu>About This Mac>More Info>Hardware>Power
The third section is Health Information. This should tell you the number of cycles your battery has had and its condition. I'm not sure what yours might say, but mine says normal. If yours says normal too, or you want an actual percentage of how healthy your battery is, there is a great widget in Dashboard called iStat Pro. Its a free download and it'll tell you a bunch of information about your Mac including charge, cycles, and health.- Answered by Tanner V from Mesa

Best AnswerMy Black MacBook Battery started out at 5059mAh (November 2007)
It slowly increased to a maximum of 5377 after 118 cycles.
After that it slowly declined back to 5072 after 348 cycles.
The battery is now down to 4188mAh after 901cycles.

where do I find the cycle count?
I have a one and one half year old macbook (white) and it doesn't hold much of a charge, maybe 2 and one half hours. Is this normal. I read something about cycle counts. I really would hate to have to replace the battery this early on. Mostly I just keep it plugged in to the power adapter.

I have a first generation 13.3 inch macbook and want a new battery for it. Are the new ones compatible with my old mackbook and what model# do I need?
- Asked by John G from Frankfort

Best AnswerYes; all the non-unibody MacBooks (like the one you have) take the same battery. Only thing to watch out for is the color -- do you have the white or black version? (I think this battery will work with either one, but it might look a little odd to have a white battery on an otherwise-black computer.) Apple used to make a black version of this battery; I'm not sure if they still do.

Yes. I bought my macbook in the US but I work in Spain where voltage is 220 v and the transformer is dual, accepts both 110 and 220 volts.

If my macbook is loading very slowly do I need a new battery?
- Asked by Susan S from Norman
- Feb 19, 2012

Answernope. the battery doesn't affect overall performance. what you should do: turn on your computer while holding down the command key. it'll boot it up in "utility mode", basically. go to the disk utility, click "repair disk". after that's done, click "repair disk permissions". that should at least help a little bit.

My battery has done 304 cycles. I've not noticed any drop in performance, but today full charge capacity (mAh) suddenly = 0. Do I need a new battery?

Best AnswerThis happened to me yesterday. I had 254 cycles on it and ...boom.. it is now not charging with a full charge capacity (mAh) = 0. I tried re-setting the SMC and that did not help. I took it in to the Genius bar and he connected an iPod-based testing device to it and sure enough it is 'dead' and needs to be replaced. Apple only warrants the battery for 1 year or 300 cycles whichever comes first. So, try re-setting the SMC (shut down computer, remove the power plug, remove battery, press the power button and keep it pressed down for no less than 5 seconds, re-insert the battery, connect the power plug and restart your computer). If that does not work, take the laptop to the Apple Store for confirmation that it is dead and if it is, buy yourself a new battery. Needless to say, I am not an Apple Genius.. so all this is at your own risk. I am now looking for a 3rd party to sell me a genuine Apple battery for hopefully tens of pounds less than what Apple sells it for.
