What apps work?
Are there any other apps that work with the sensor other than Nike Plus?

Answer
The only thing that I've found that will run simultaneously with the recording of your "workout" with nike+ is listening to your itunes. If you want to use another app the workout will pause while you do whatever you do (take a photo, look at maps, make a phone call). Then there is a band at the top of the screen that you press to return to your "workout"...As an aside: Something that took me a bit to figure out: If you want to listen to a podcast while working out, turn itunes on first and start playing the podcast before you start the nike+. Then when it asks you what you want to listen to, you can click "now playing".

what is this and it's purpose

AnswerThis sensor, when paired with an iPhone 3GS, iPod touch (2nd generation) or iPod nano (with receiver), can track how long you've run, using a pedometer built in the sensor. Using software on the iPod, you can track your running data and pick certain music specifically for running purposes.

Is there a way to use this product with non-Nike shoes without buying a pouch?
Before I order a product I may not need, I'm wondering if anyone out there has any good ideas for using with your shoe w/o buying anything special.

What do you do when you calibrate? I do not own a sensor yet so please discribe well.
- Asked by Laila M

Best AnswerYou can select a calibration run of 400m - you run this distance, and the sensor is then calibrated correctly. Or, after any run of a known distance (for instance, a route you have measured on Google Maps, or from a car's odometer) you can enter the distance manually and this calibrates the sensor for you. It's very easy.

I was told by an Apple employee that all I needed for the nano 5th gen was the senor and not the whole kit, can anyone confirm or deny this?

AnswerAccording to the website: "pair it with your existing Nike + iPod receiver attached to your iPod nano."
Also: "If you have an iPod touch (2nd generation) or iPhone 3GS, all you need to track your workouts is this wireless sensor.
So you need the receiver for an iPod nano.- Answered by Timothee R from Verdun
