Can the desktop stand be removed from the new 21" and 27" iMacs?

Missing part in Cinema Display VESA Mount Adapter kit.

I just bought a 24" Cinema Display and then ordered the Cinema Display VESA Mount Adapter to mount it on a egotron arm. I watched a youtube video about how to install the adapter (which included the use of a plastic card (not included in the kit) to release the catch to gain access to the 8 screws and the EXTRA part that mounts on the cinema display (after removing the stand) prior to installing the VESA mount adapter. This piece of metal widens the existing mount from the display and provides the end holes so that the adapter can be mounted. This part was NOT in the kit! The kit is useless without this part. Shouldn't it have been in the box?

I have a 30 inch apple cinema display and want to mount it on a movable mount. Will this support the screen weight?
