Can I connect an earlier generation Mac Mini to my Dell Display? Does the mini-DVI to DVI adapter work for this? is the cable long enough?

AnswerThe adapter does not connect directly to your display (you'll note the DVI connector is female and your display will be also). You must connect a DVI to DVI cable to the adapter and then to your display. This cable will most likely have come with your display and will have male DVI connectors on both ends.
If your Mac Mini has mini-DVI and your display has DVI then this will work.
You can check the specs of your mac mini on the support section of the Apple site.- Answered by Jason S from Waverley

I have a Dell HD Monitor with a DVI Connection. Will the Mini Mac Work with this monitor? And if so, which Cable would I need for the Mac?

AnswerDepends on which Mac Mini. The current Mac Mini includes this cable in the box so providing you have a normal DVI to computer cable it will work.

MacBook Pro to a Samsung 931BF 19" Monitor
Monitor does not detect digital signal with mini-DVI adapter connected to DVI cable. DVI cable and monitor connected to another computer, without mini-DVI adapter, works fine. What alternatives do I have to connect this monitor to my MacBook if the adapter is rendering the connection to the monitor useless?

AnswerI'm having the exact same problem. I'm using a Samsung SyncMaster 2333 and it won't pick up the signal from my MacBook. I've tried two different connectors from the MB to the monitor, and still no luck. I went to a local electronics store to find out more info about the problem, and the sales rep hooked up a MB to a similar Samsung monitor (SyncMaster 2433), and everything worked fine. I going to go to the apple store first thing tomorrow to see if there's a problem with the port, or what they can do to help my situation.

Can i use my 27 inch imac with the mini-dvi connector (it does not have the new mini display adapter) as an external monitor for my new mac pro ?
Will the new mac pro ( 8 core ) drive the 27 inch imac display if i connect via the DVi port. I realize i will need a Mini DVI to DVi converter cable. Also, Will the 27 inch 2008 imac work in display target mode or does this only work with the new i macs that have the mini display ports?

New Mac Mini with Mini-DVI output. What monitors or adapters to use?
Just purchased new Mac Mini, with Mini-DVI output. Could not use present adapter (DVI with 4 pin & flat slot) with the Mini-DVI (flat slot only) on my existing monitor (VGA with DVI standard adaptor). Is their a Mac Mini-DVI adapter to VGA, or a recommended flat panel monitor (Apple or non-Apple brand)?
