How do I connect an old Apple Cinema Display (2002) to a PowerMac G5?
Please let me know what adapter I need to use. The display is the older, clear plastic frame Apple Cinema Display from 2002. The connector from the display is the large, oval shaped connector. Someone at Apple told me that I would need a mini DVI to VGA adapter AND a mini display port. When looking these both up, they do not seem like they will work. Please advise.
Thank you.

Best AnswerI believe you have an ACD connection on the older Apple Cinema Display. What you will need is Apples DVI to ACD connector so a to give power to your display. The cost is listed as $99.00 on Apples website.

I have a new macbook pro and I was wondering if this cable would work with my Mac. Please Help!!!

Best AnswerNo, this product will not work with your MacBook Pro, for the MacBook Pro you'll need a "Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter" not a "mini DVI…". Search the Apple Store and it should come up.
You'll find the price is a little more expensive for the new Mini DisplayPort adapters.- Answered by Ben C from Greenpoint

Best AnswerShort Answer: No. Only for older non-Pro series MacBooks.
Long Answer: The 2009 MacBook Pro's use Mini-Display Port for video output. To connect MDP to VGA you need a different part. Apple makes a "Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter" retailing for $29.00. The 2008 MacBook Pro's used full size DVI. This dongle is designed to work with all Black and White polycarbonate MacBooks, iMacs (Intel Core Duo), and 12-inch PowerBook G4's. Just FYI, the MacBook Air uses Micro DVI, so this is dongle is not compatible with that notebook either.- Answered by Jef H from Parker
