Answer
My warm water in-floor radiant heating system is working with a central disposed thermostat.
This thermostat works with a supply-,room- and outside air temperature to a
adjustable heating characteristic. The thermostat is connected via an e-bus
direct to the heating boiler. The low voltage is 3V (thermostat) and 24V.
The heating system is a German Weishaupt condensing boiler.
The e-bus ( RS 232) needs only two wires to the boiler.
My question: Needs the Nest thermostat always 4-wires or is a 2-wires system
possible?- Answered by Klaus-dieter W

What do you do when you have multiple thermostats in a house?
I have an upstairs and a downstairs. How do they work together? Do you buy two and do they interface somehow?
- Asked by Brian M from Kansas City
- Oct 25, 2012
- Flag as inappropriate
Best AnswerYou would buy one for each zone. They both get registered with your Nest account, and can both be controlled both via the web interface and within the iOS apps. They will automatically communicate with each other to sync information like auto-away status.
More information about multiple thermostats can be found on the Nest website under Support > Remote access > Managing multiple Nest Learning Thermostats with one Nest Account- Answered by Stephen B from Santa Cruz

Does it automatically switch between heat and cool?
- Asked by Ray O from Tampa
- Dec 18, 2012
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerYes - but the downside is that the thermostat will operate within a range of temperatures. I want the bedroom to be at 70 but the narrowest range I can get it 70-73. Not a big deal but otherwise it would be working overtime switching between heat and cool to try to hold a specific temperature.

I would like to know if you can install in Europe. If sample degrees centigrados and also uses that type of electricity connection, 220V, 24V ...?

Best AnswerIt works with 24 volt systems. You'll have to check nest.com to confirm (last I knew, they were delaying release in Europe - don't know whether this was technical)

The Nest has an internal rechargeable battery. The doc says it should last 7-10 years. But what then? It does not seem to be user replaceable.

Prominently features "turns itself down when you're not home" but what is the definition of "not home"? iDevice not in range?
* If "not home" is defined as certain times of day, this is no better than existing programmable thermostats, just (maybe) easier to program.
* if "not home" is defined as certain times of day - except when the iDevice it's paired with is near, that's slightly better than a traditional thermostat.
* if "not home" is defined as "whenever the paired iDevice is not near" then it's actually a fail, because if some household members don't have an iDevice, or don't pair their device, then the thermostat is set wrong when people are present (maid, babysitter, housesitter, nanny, children, grandma).- Asked by Barry A D from Los Gatos

AnswerIt actually has nothing to do with any other devices. The Nest has a proximity/motion sensor system that detects movement above waist-level or so (so that pets do not trigger it.)
