AnswerHi Dennis
Just to let you know, I saw a news flash today. Nest just released there version 3.5 software. Nest thermostats now have Advanced Fan Control. Current Nests can be upgraded apparently.
This was the one feature I was waiting for.

What about our pets?
We have dogs and plants like most red blooded Americans do. I'd be concerned that this product wouldn't account for their comfort while we're away at work. Obviously they don't require quite the same level of climate control that we would, but I was wondering if there is some means of taking their needs into consideration?

I currently have two thermostats that control one area of the home. One is the mercury type for heat the other is digital for cooling can i combine?
Currently the Mercury type thermostat is used to control the heater (oil burner, hot water baseboard) and the other digital thermostat is used to control the central air unit. I have no idea why I have separate thermostats and was not combine initially or if they can be combine. Does anyone know if i can combine these two thermostats and use one Nest?

Best AnswerOne Nest device for each thermostat replaced. The Nest allows you to name each device individually then control them individually or remotely, with one mobile app. I just installed three in my house.

Does it automatically switch between heat and cool?
- Asked by Ray O from Tampa
- Dec 18, 2012

AnswerYes - but the downside is that the thermostat will operate within a range of temperatures. I want the bedroom to be at 70 but the narrowest range I can get it 70-73. Not a big deal but otherwise it would be working overtime switching between heat and cool to try to hold a specific temperature.
