Can you adjust the sensativity of the motion sensor? When tiggered do it sent one alert or ring till disarmed?
- Asked by Emanuel R from Richmond Hill
- Jan 24, 2013
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerNo it is not possible to adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensor. It has been set to react on a movement equal to someone picking up something from a table. The Motion Alarm can be set up to meet your requirements. E.g. no alarm on hipKey but an Alarm on iPhone or an Alarm on both devices. When an Alarm goes it will sound for a while to ensure it is heard.

Does hipKey work in airplane mode?
I travel a lot, but I don't bothering buying phone plans. I switch my phone on airplane mode and use the free wireless if it's available. So when I'm away, say in Cuba, I'm on the beach, and I have my iPhone with me. If my phone is in airplane mode, will hipKey still work as an alarm? I want to be assured that I can leave my belongings on the beach while I'm in the water.
- Asked by C Y from Kitchener

AnswerYes hipKey is working in airplane mode. Just remember to switch on Bluetooth after setting the phone to airplane mode and it will reconnect to hipKey right away.

Does the 'Find Me' feature always work?
Say the hipKey is attached to a child, or item, and the child/item is lost/hiding/abducted/stolen. Company says the Find Me feature will sound the alarm on the hipKey to locate it, but the quick guide says the action button can be pressed on the hipKey to silence the alarm, and of course the hipKey can simply be turned off (before or after the alarm sounds) by the child/abductor/thief.
Does the Find Me feature (in the app on an iPhone connected to the hipKey) sound the alarm on the hipkey after the action button has been pressed, or after the power button has been pressed (and the hipKey turned off)?- Asked by Rory J from Mississauga
- Jan 22, 2013
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerThe Find Me feature will always work as long as hipKey is connected to iPhone / iPad.
When pressing Find Me on iPhone / iPad an Alarm sounds in hipKey (and the other way around). The Find Me alarm on hipKey can be turned off by pressing the Action Key. If the Action Key is pressed it will be shown clearly on iPhone / iPad App, and then the user can decide to press Find Me again if required.
If hipKey is powered OFF then it is not possible to get a Find Me alarm on it.- Answered by Hippih I

For now it is used with one device, more in future, but can it currently keep track of my glasses, IPhone 4S, and keys all at the same time?
- Asked by Mary R from Laguna Beach

AnswerNo, not all these items at the same time.
hipKey will help you to look after the beloved item you physically hook it to. E.g. your key's, handbag or something else. At the same time hipKey will always help you to keep track of your iPhone / iPad.- Answered by Hippih I

What happens if hipKey battery dies, bluetooth disconnects or power is turned off?
What kind of failsafe protection is there? Say, for example, the hipKey is on a child and the iPhone is monitoring in Child/Alarm (proximity) mode, and any of the following happen:
1 - The hipKey battery runs out or simply fails?
2 - The bluetooth connection is lost (it happens, interference, etc)?
3 - The child or an abductor simply turns the hipKey off before going beyond alarm range?- Asked by Rory J from Mississauga
- Jan 22, 2013
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerFirst of all the likelihood of hipKey powering down without pre-warning is very little.
The battery last for many weeks, and in the App there is a hipKey battery indicator, that warns the user when it is time to recharge hipKey. Even when the hipKey app is running in the back-ground the user will still be notified when it is time for hipKey to be charged.
Answers to the specific scenarios:
1): In case one of the three modes are ON (Alarm Mode, Child Mode or Motion Mode) an alarm is activated on iPhone / iPad. In case all three modes are OFF but hipKey is still connected to iPhone / iPad (the Find Me feature is active), no alarm is activated on iPhone / iPad.
2) Same as 1)
3) If Child Mode is ON and hipKey is turned off an Alarm is activated on iPhone / iPad.- Answered by Hippih I

Best Answer
Yes, hipKey does work without a mobile signal. The reason is that hipKey communicates with iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth 4.0).

How long does the battery last?
- Asked by Emanuel R from Richmond Hill
- Jan 23, 2013

AnswerIt depends on how much hipKey is used. In a typical use case where hipKey is connected to iPhone / iPad 24 hours a day 7 days a week, hipKey will last for many weeks. The user will be notified in good time before a recharge is required.

- Asked by Emanuel R from Richmond Hill
- Jan 23, 2013

AnswerYes, when hipKey is moved the user get's an alert on iPhone / iPad. The sensitivity is set to respond to a sudden movement. Imagine hipKey is lying on a table. If hipKey is then picked up, the motion sensor will tricker an alarm instantly.

Is it possible to lock the dongle in child mode?
Your website mentions holding the power button for several seconds will turn the dongle off. My young kids, even 11-month old, are very good at holding the button for several seconds. Is it possible to lock the device for child mode use?
- Asked by Phil K from Mountain View
- Jan 22, 2013
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerThe hipKey Power Key has been designed to make it very difficult for a small child to press for a long time and turn hipKey off. The Action Key however is bigger and more easy to press and will tricker a 'Find Me' event. The Power Key does not lock in any modes.

Hipkey - Multiple Bluetooth
I use an Iphone4s with a bluetooth headset whilst in-car. Can the Hipkey be paired with the 4S at the same time or will it be necessary to carry out pairing again when moving outside the car environment?
Many thanks. Bill- Asked by William D

AnswerhipKey can without problems be paired to iPhone 4S, or any other compatible iOS device, at the same time as the iPhone 4S is paired to another bluetooth device like a bluetooth headset. hipKey will remain connected and functional while the other bluetooth device is used.

How about compatibility of HipKey with Iphone 4? Thanks, Vladimir
- Asked by Vladimir I from Port Moody
- Dec 11, 2012
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerhipKey does not work with iPhone 4. The reason is that iPhone 4 does not support Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth 4.0). Bluetooth Smart is a new generation of Bluetooth that includes longer range (up to 50 meters) and much lower power consumption. These improved performance parameters are important for hipKey to give a great user experience.
