Answer
You could use the line in from the headphone jack on your iMac for sure, as far as doing it wirelessly from Airplay to enable that, go to the System Preferences and then to sound, then click the output tab and choose the B&W's from the list of available outputs.

Answer
Yes you can stream Airplay from Spotify, however not directly from within the app. The trick is to start some music playing then double tap the home button on you iOS device, this will bring up the fast app switcher. Swipe from left to right to access playback controls, swipe left to right again to access volume and Airplay options. click the Airplay icon and choose where you want your Spotily tunes to play.

Does this the B&W A5 have auto on when music is detected or do you need to use the remote and actually turn on the device each time you use it?

Answer
As long as it is in sleep mode, and not standby mode, it will detect music coming from your network. Because it stays connected to the network in sleep mode, it will use more power when set up this way.

The speaker is Airplay and line-in only. You could find one of many radio apps to play via airplay and listen to your favorite over the air broadcasts that way.

Does this work with an 802.11n network running at 5Ghz?
I have tried a Bose SoundLink Air speaker which, I was told by Bose, does not work on 802.11n networks, only a, b and g. I want to be sure that any replacement AirPlay speaker works on my 802.11n network running at 5Ghz. I don't want to reduce the speed of the network simply for the sake of the speaker.
