I have no wireless service. Can I get a router to communicate between my iPad and this printer? Which?
I have asked this question of many techs and get various answers. Even at the Apple Store there have been various answers. Is the router a device to communicate between the printer and iPad? Can I buy an inexpensive router or do I have to get the Apple Airport? Thanks.

I can answer my own question. With the help of an Apple Tech and an Epson tech I used the Apple Airport Express and this printer to print from my iPad. It was much easier than I thought. Someone with a little more computer literacy than I, could probably due without one or both techs. I didn't bother to think about getting a cheaper router as I wanted to be able to return the router if I had problems. By the way the Airport Express is small enough to carry from one location to another if I want to set up another air printer at another location. The printer itself is too large for me to transport except by car.

You can also just get a cheap app and use the app for faxing without having a real fax machine.

I have a MacBook Pro 1yr old and a new iPad retina. We have a home printer but want to take this on the road with us as we will be traveling by car.
Will this printer be small enough to carry around? Will it work in hotel rooms? I want to use it more for the MacBook Pro than my iPad. Will this printer be the appropriate one to choose? Need to scan and print photo from camera while traveling.

Will this Epson XP400 work with my Power Mac G-5 Pre-Intel OS 10.5.8? CANON told me yes; It will be shipped back next week.
Am returning. I have an email stating that it would comply.
Asked me if I read user agreement before purchasing! Yea we all read that stuff.
Also told me that sometimes they will work and other times they won't.
I have returned 3 printers in last month.
I think the Epson XP400 was one I returned. Wi-Fi Set up was easy, only problem
it would only print I guess size 9 or 10 size font. Tiny.
Will order this one again if someone can help with the font size problem.

The printer (like the XP-400) just needs to feature AirPrint, then you can print from iPad and iPhone instantly. No software needed. Just select 'print' from your device then select the printer from the list that appears. It's incredibly easy and quick.

No - minimum OS version per the website is 10.5.8. You may be able to get it to work using another driver, but you're best off looking for a compatible printer, or - even better, use a newer OS than OSX Tiger.

If you have a big enough duffle bag and want to lug around a 6lb printer im sure you could.
But still need to connect it to computer to put it on the same network as your ipad. Not to mention lugging this around may cause the print head to become misaligned.
If needing one for travel best find a printer meant for travel (travel will be likely in its name)- Answered by Michael P from Calgary
