I say yes, but see the reviews to see if it suits your needs. All the buttons on the case are nicely covered, but remain very usable. This case provides impeccable protection.

Does the metal scratch?
Does the metal parts of the case get scratched over time? If so, does paint on the black version chip off?

AnswerOvertime, your ipod will get scratched from the friction of taking your ipod in and out of your pocket. So i recommend you purchase a case as soon as possible for protection. It doesn't matter if the case gets scratched, since the case is more easy to replace than an ipod.

its easy but its not as easy to get off as these soft cases that come off by themselves and stretch over time it keeps its shape and keeps your ipod protected i have one and it has fallen like a 1000 times and nothing has happened to the ipod and the cases always feels safe not like the soft ones
