You can record any style of music with the MiC. Any sound source will work just fine. Might be a little better suited towards vocals and acoustic instruments, but I've recorded electric guitars and drumkits with it.

Hi Joan. You can use the MiC with any app that records sound. Voice Memos (comes with the iPhone), Garageband (a separate purchase and download) or any number of third-party audio recording apps work fine. Just plug in the MiC and hit record on the app! It's that easy.

Best Answer
Simply it's a upgraded sound card for your Mac.
External audio interfaces let you record audio - converting the analog sound to digital data providing the audio component for multimedia applications such as music composition, editing video or audio, presentation, education and entertainment.
Also providing connections for external monitors and inputs such as XLR for microphones and line in connection for instruments.
