Do you need a mac and ipad together? My dad only has an ipad, could he use this?
Can he use this as a stand alone device with just the ipad?

Answeryeah, you can use just the garageband software for the ipad. There is a multi-track recording option in that. I believe in order to export the audio you would need a mac but i could be wrong on that.

Does this work with the Iphone 3GS?
- Asked by Denis V from Chilliwack

AnswerI did send an email to apogee and they told me no it does not, but that was before the new os update for 3gs/iphone4. I was told however by Apple that there is very little difference between the 3GS and Iphone4 (ie: Facetime and HD recording) and it should work but will let know if it does. I still dont understand how it will work as the Irig has a free app to customize sound directly on the phone and the apogee jam does not

Do you need iRig with Apogee? Or is one product better than the other? Or does each one do separate things?

AnswerI don't have any experience with the iRig except it plugs into the headphone jack where the Apogee Jam plugs into the connector dock leaving your headphone jack free for headphones.

How do i plug it in my Mac?

AnswerIt comes with a usb cable. Plug one end into your jam and the other end into your mac. The unit is class compliant (no drivers), so simply go to system preferences and choose "Jam" as the input device. Then just use any application that accepts the CoreAudio standard.
