How good is the bass? and can I connect a separate subwoofer to it and have it play through airplay?
- Asked by Zach S from Olympia
- May 31, 2011
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerThe bass is very good for the size of the system. It is not a bumper by any means, but has a very natural and present sound. I don't think there is a way to connect an active sub to the system directly. The only way I can think of adding a subwoofer is by streaming music through an airport express, connect a receiver to the AUX output on the router, and connect the subwoofer and Air to the receiver. However, if you are willing to go through all of that, I'd recommend a nice bookshelf system instead.

*I am a computer novice and own a Dell system. Will the Zeppelin work via a cisco wireless router and my Dell system??
- Asked by Donna H from Port Orange
- Mar 5, 2011
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerBut please note that you WILL need to have iTunes installed on your Dell PC to fully utilise the AirPlay functionality.... However you can still use the device without AirPlay by docking an iPod/iPhone (not sure about an iPad) directly onto the Zeppelin.

what's a "drive unit"? I'm looking for a system that will come with speakers for multiple rooms, not something I'm going to lug around the house.
- Asked by Daniel L from San Francisco
- Feb 26, 2012
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerA drive unit refers to the individual speaker cones, of which there are 5 total in the Zep Air.
The Zep Air is a stand alone unit of ~6 kg that is not designed to be portable though it can be move fairly readily. The ideal situation, if practical (and affordable!) would be to have a unit in each of the rooms you want to have music in. All will connect to your wireless network so you can stream sound to them.- Answered by John M from Kirrawee

can i connect this to a tv and use it as a speaker for my tv
i would like to purchase one of these but is wondring if it is possible to connect to a tv to use it as a speaker for what is shown through my tv
- Asked by Geoffrey L from Perth
- Jun 22, 2011

Best AnswerYes, as long as your TV has an AUX output (also known as a headphone port). The Air will not stream audio from your TV wirelessly, but will output the audio as an auxiliary source. To change sources you either press the bottom button on the Air's remote, or tap the power button on the actual system.

Is there any way to connect my TV to the Zeppelin Air wirelessly so that I can listen to TV and movies through the Zeppelin Air?
Hi, I am planning to buy the Zeppelin Air and wanted to know if there’s any way to connect my TV to it wirelessly so that I can listen to movies through either both the TV speakers and the Zeppelin Air or just through the Zeppelin Air? I’m also buying a new TV so can purchase one with sufficient capabilities if needed. Thanks.

Best AnswerThere is no way to connect this wirelessly to a TV. However, you certainly could connect them via the stereo aux mini-plug (1/8-inch headphone-style jack), or via optical mini-TOSLINK (same port).
I would think that if you're planning to use it with your TV, then you'd want it placed in front of, and thus close to, your TV. So it would certainly be close enough to connect to the aforementioned jack.- Answered by John W from Houston

Can you play the new nano FM radio through these speakers?
I ask because it says you have to have the headphones attached to get the FM radio to work (as the wire to the headphones is the FM antenna) so I am assuming this means that if you plug the nano into the B&W speakers (or indeed any other docking station speakers) that you wont be able to hear the radio over them?
I have an ipod classic so that wont give me the radio option as it doesnt take Apps but would like to have a radio option that is not dependent on internet access (as is the case with the ipod touch radio App).- Asked by Catherine M

Best AnswerNope, I've been looking for a way to have FM radio playing on my Zeppelin Air, but none found zo far.
When docking the iPod nano, you can't get it to play Radio. Headphone connector is on the same side as the dock connector so it won't fit. Even if you get it to fit, it will just say it doesn't have an antenna.
Maybe there is a way by connecting it to the AUX connector of the Zeppelin, but I haven't tried that yet... .- Answered by Xavier L

Is the power supply also adaptable to 220 V?
Can I swichtch the power mode from 110V to 220V?
- Asked by Günther K
- Feb 26, 2011
- Flag as inappropriate
Best AnswerYes. The power supply of the Zeppelin air allows the unit to operate from 100v to 240v at 50Hz or 60Hz. All you need to do is change the power cord or use the supplied cord with an adapter.

Can you plug P5s into the Zepp Air, while plugged into a Mac? I'd like use the Zepp's DAC to bypass the DAC on my Mac. I believe the MM-1s have this.
- Asked by David N from San Diego
- Feb 11, 2012
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerAfter further testing, I concluded that the feature I am looking for is only available on the MM-1s. For example: the MM-1s plugged via USB to a Mac; the P5s plugged into the headphone jack on the MM-1s, to utilize the built-in DAC for crystal clear sounds.

What speakers actually sound better & have more bass? The Zeppelin Air or MM-1?
- Asked by Rowell D
- Oct 3, 2011
- Flag as inappropriate
Best AnswerThe Zeppelin Air has more bass than the MM-1, but one could argue the MM-1 has a more refined and balanced sound. Also you can physically move the MM-1 speakers to provide separation, while the Zeppelin Air is an all-in-one unit.

Is it possible to dock an iPad 2 on it to play music or charge, or is it too heavy?
- Asked by Massimiliano D
- Mar 15, 2011

Best AnswerIt's not that heavy! I would have no issue, except if you bumped the iPad, it will fall off in a second. But the arm is strong enough for the weight, it is just not a solid perch.

Answer
there is'nt an actual adaptor for the zeppelin. but I also have an original one and by using an apple airport express, available on this site and an optical lead as both the express and the mk1 zeppelin have combined optical and digital jacks I have streamed music via remote app for itouch and now airplay directly from the itouch to the zeppelin for a couple of years now using the zepps onboard DAC
despite the reported improvements in the sound quality with mk11 over mk1 zep as i already had the airport express i couldn't see the big deal with the integrated Airplay- Answered by Pat F from Trim
