Answer
An Apple engineer recommended it to me for use with the new Mac Pro. According to the Highpoint box, it is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 or later. I just got the computer (new Mac Pro Quad core with OS 10.6.4) and and plugged the card in. It shows up on the Apple Profiler, and the drivers were already present, but one needs to install their RAID management software which resides on a local drive but has a browser (Safari or Firefox) interface and is supposed to send e-mail notifications of problems. I haven't done any testing yet. Highpoint's enclosed brochure says that it is possible to boot from a single eSATA drive prepared with Carbon Copy Cloner, but not from a RAID array. They say it will show up as a Startup Disk in System Prefs.

Is this more then just a Highpoint 644?
This card is named RocketRAID Quad eSATA for Mac. But It says on the card itself Highpoint 644.
Is there any difference between this card and the card named just "Highpoint 644" other then the price?- Asked by Tim N from Longwood
