o.k. forgivr my ignorance.. I am attempting to understand all the lingo, (GB) etc.. I am looking at the ipad mini. I see it lists GB, yet when I go to my old macbook, my GB are only in my memory and at 6 which I think is still a decent amount, so I must not be doing apples to apples? If I remember right, the mini listed 36?

Why is ipad wifi AND cellular necessy if you have an iPhone & can access Internet via personal hotspot, free wifi (or your home Internet)?
This seems to negate the need to be on an additional plan for the iPad? I am currently still using my original iPad but about to upgrade to give it to my son. So, why do I need cellular if I can use hotspot via my iPhone to access Internet is I can't get free wifi when out & about? I actually got rid of my iPad plan for that reason. I didn't in fact need it I discovered because hotspot and my iPhone plan work well for checking things these hen away from home. When at home we all just tap our Apple devices into our home network. Am I missing something big here?

can I connect an Ipad2 to a normal cable network? Or can I only connect to the internet through WiFi?

Nope, only WiFi. There's nowhere to plug an ethernet cable into your iPad. Although, you can download apps and updates to your iPad through your computer using iTunes, which may speed up the download a bit.

Since the Ipad3 hit the market, I have only seen the Ipad2 in 16g new or 64g refurbished. But who knows what Apple will do for the Christmas season. Stay away from the Ipad1 since it will not work the iOS6 coming this fall.

Yes it has Siri, which is the intelligent assistant that you can use via voice to schedule appointments and meetings, make calls, open apps, play music or other media and even have weird conversations with.

yes, it comes pre-installed on all current generation device (iPod,iPad and iPhone). the newest version is iOS 5.1 it just fixes some bugs in 5.0
