Might be a "duh" question, but it wouldn't work on a 2008, 17" MacBook Pro would it???
Somehow the magnetic head of my 85W (model A1222) power adapter tore. It will charge but I have to jiggle it a bit to stay. I was hoping the MagSafe 2 converter would fit this particular portal.

Is it better to get the adapter or just buy a new Magsafe 2 power supply?
I've got a brand new 2012 Macbook Air. Given my travels, I definitely need an extra power supply. I have some extra original Magsafe supplies (85W). I'm trying to decide if it will be better to get the adapter or get a new power supply.

MagSafe to MagSafe2 & rMBP - Does it charge the rMBP while in use?
Equipment: 2012 rMBP, 2008 23" Cinema Dislay, MagSafe to MagSafe2 adapter.
Tonight I hooked up my retina macbook pro to my cinema display via the MagSafe to MagSafe2 adapter and noticed that while the rMBP received power, it wasn't charging the battery while I used the computer.
I've read various reports online about the MacBook air being able to receive both power and battery charge simultaneously, probably because it's power needs are 45w compared to the rMBP's 85w.
My experience so far says that the MagSafe to MagSafe2 adapter will NOT charge a rMBP while it's in use. Is this correct?- Asked by Michael M from Highlands Ranch

Which end is which?
There is a standard for describing electrical connections that is not used here. For 115 V AC, on the end of a cable one plugs into an outlet is a MALE connector. The outlet is a FEMALE connector. Is this gizmo a MALE MagSafe2 and FEMALE MagSafe1, or is it a MALE MagSafe1 and FEMALE MagSafe2. I think it is the former, but it's hard to be sure from the description.
MALE MagSafe2 and FEMALE MagSafe1 would allow charging of a newer computer with an older power adapter.
MALE MagSafe1 and FEMALE MagSafe2 would allow charging of an older computer with a newer power adaptor.
Each task is going to be desired by some users. Why is there only one kind of adapter?- Asked by William P from Seattle

Can I use the converter with a Apple 60W MagSafe Power Adapter
I have a MacBook Pro and several Apple 60W MagSafe Power Adapters. I have just ordered a 13" Macbook Air, can I use the 60W MagSafe Power Adapters plus a MagSafe to MagSafe 2 Converter with my Macbook Air?
I would have thought so but on the product info page for the Converter it shows compatibility with the following adapters:
Apple 45W MagSafe Power Adapter

Will it be faster?
MagSafe 2 has 85W as opposed to Magsafe's 45W.
I assume this means MagSafe 2 chargers will charge quicker?
If so, using the adapter on the lower one (45w) will be slower?

Can I use this mag safe converter with a thunderbolt 27 inch display and my new mac air?
I have a 27 inch thunderbolt monitor and the power cable doesn't fit into my new mac air. I saw this mag safe converter and was wondering if I can use it to connect my mac air directly to my monitor.
