I have two machines connected in a network: one PC with Windows XP (SP3) and a iMac with Mac OS. I would like to store data in the Time Machine that comes from the PC and / or iMac. Is this possible ?

can I migrate files from PC to MacBook Pro with TC?
I want to buy MBP to replace desktop PC. Will I be able to use PC files on MBP (Windows XP, MS Office, photos, iTunes files, Outlook contacts, etc)?
If I buy a Time Machine, can I transfer files from the PC to MBP using the TM? Is there a better way to migrate files?

Can I backup the TC to the cloud (i.e. make an online backup of the data on the TC)?
I would like to follow Peter Krogh’s recommendation of keeping 3 copies of important files, a primary and two back-ups, with one of the back-ups being offsite. (i.e. The 3-2-1 Rule) Can I backup all my MACs to the TC and then backup the TC to online backup site?

Do I have to format the TC's hard drive like I would a standard external if I want some space for Time Machine and some space for data?
I'd like to use it for both - a TM back-up as well as a shared iPhoto Library, shared iTunes, etc. How difficult is this? Do I have to allocate the space myself or will the TC do it for me?

Can I access data stored in Time Machine on a PC or a Mac running an older version of OSX, or can I only retrieve TM data by using TM?
I've just had a total HDD failure on my Mac and lost all my data. I'm now considering using Time Machine but it seems to take up a lot of space and I'm not sure how easy it will be to access the files. Can the backups be accessed like any normal stored files? Will I be able to plug my Time Machine hard drive into any computer and retrieve the files manually, or can I only access them on a computer running Leopard?

What about attempting to back up data from a lost laptop onto a replacement? This is not like replacing the harddisk, MAC address changes.
I see some people saying they loose backups if the MAC address is not the same. I had my laptop stolen a couple of weeks ago. If I had a TC backup could it be restored to a completely different machine - not just a new disk on the same machine?

My 250GB G5 (backed up to 1TB ext hard with time machine) is now full. Can i use TC to expand diskspace and leave time machine on existing drive?
I have an imac and macbook pro both backed up thru time machine to a 1TB Western Digital Mybook external hard disk, connected via firewire to the imac. However the hard disk on the imac (250gb) is now full and the macbook will be full soon. I would like to free both up by using a 1TB Time Capsule as my central hard disk, connected wirelessly to imac and mackbook if possible. How do i do this without disturbing the current time machine set up. Or can i just plug the Time Machine external drive into Time capsule and continue without loads of configurations??? I can't erase the time machine because there is important data on it which was deleted from the imacs hard drive. Can anybody suggest a solution to set up a home network which optimizes the disk space, incorporates printer and remote access to data which is all backed up.

I use a Retina Macbook Pro which obviously doesn't have an ethernet port. Can the TC work wirelessly without the need of the TC being hard wired?
I have a few quick questions regarding the Time Capsule.
I'm interested in getting the 2TB version to backup my rMBP, an iMac and 2 external usb hard drives.
I'm assuming that back up works wirelessly for each device, once setup using the Airport Utility? There is no need to hardwire each Mac to setup and continue to use Time Machine on the TC?
I won't need to buy a Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter for my rMBP in order to use the Time Capsule on this machine?
The TC doesn't (and can't) replace my main router?
Thanks!- Asked by Chris J

Can you still wirelessly communicate from your computers to the TC if you are not using the TC as a wireless router?
I currently have an iMac and a MacBook that I use wirelessly via a cable modem and a Linksys wireless router located on my first floor. I would like to install the TC on my second floor next to my printer. I would like the ability to print wirelessly as well as backup wirelessly with the TC. Possible?

Can an old Time Capsule be used as Hard Drive for media files so I can get a new TC for backup?
As I have gotten into editing and archiving family video, I have filled up my iMac's memory and my Time Capsule is also full. Can I "empty" the backup data from my original TC and direct my iTunes media to be stored there and then buy a new TC with more memory to resume by backups?
If I do this, will all my media still be "visible" to AppleTV so I can still access it via AppleTV and be able to stream it to my entertainment system?
If so, how do I remove all the backup data from the original TC?- Asked by Patrick G from Cambridge

Can you partition the Time Capsule Hard Drive
I want to get a Time Capsule and I want to partition so that one is for backups and the other is for assorted data. Is it possible to partition the Time Capsule's hard drive or should I just connect and additional hard drive to it (assuming it supports that).
