My MacBook Pro has Time Machine in the dock & I have an Airport Extreme. Is Time Machine the same as Time Capsule? Is Time Cap already on my MacBook?
Sorry, I am a novice obviously. My Mac needs to be repaired and I'm trying to find a way to backup my Mac before bringing it in. I keep reading about Time Capsule but see a lot of negative reviews. I hate to buy it esp. if I already have it. Thx!

Can Time Capsule back up a PC running Windows Vista?
Both of our family's MacBooks AND my wife's PC are able to use Time Capsule wireless signal with no problems.
The Macs are effortlessly backed up by the Time Capsule using Time Machine.
But even after installing Airport Utility onto the PC using the DVD/CD that came with the Time Capsule, the PC's Airport Utility can't find my Time Capsule. Page 18 of my little Time Capsule Setup Guide shows the PC being able to do this, so maybe something is wrong.
Is it possible for Time Capsule to automatically back up ALL our computers, both Mac and PC?
Thank you.- Asked by Antonio M from Anchorage

Can I connect the Time Capsule to an existing router through ethernet?
I want to use it for a time machine back up, but I already have a wireless router and don't want to use the time capsule as my router. Can I just plug it into the back of my router through ethernet and have it work the same way?

With a Dual Band Time Capsule, can devices communicate from different bands through the time capsule?
I have an iPhone 3Gs and an iPhone 4 that I wish to 'communicate' with my iMac which is set up to run on a 5Ghz 'N' network.
Will the Dual Band Time Capsule allow this to happen?
I am thinking about this all in relation to the iCloud and iOS 5 where the iPhones will be able to do wireless backups to my iMac, but don't work on my Airport Express 5Ghz 'N' network. Will a Dual Band TC or Airport Extreme solve this problem?
Cheers.- Asked by Martin S from Caulfield South

Will the Time Capsule solve my problem with my scratch disk being full?
I am a photographer and i am having issues with my scratch disk on my Mac Book pro, which is effecting my editing on photoshop as i am unable to save my work due to the disk being full and sometimes not even able to open up photoshop due to it being full. I bought a 500gb portable hard drive and set that up in time capsule as added back up but still the problem occurs. Would the Time Capsule solve this issue for me or is there something else i need to do that perhaps i haven't done yet?

two macs, one time capsule?
I have two macBooks, want to maintain separate disk images for each machine through my Time Capsule, can I do it and how?
or should I even bother since I built my new MacBook Pro off the disk image of my old MacBook and it worked great, if the new machine crashes I'll have an image and can restore to the old machine, and if the old machine craters I'll have the image from the new one to restore to another new machine?

My 250GB G5 (backed up to 1TB ext hard with time machine) is now full. Can i use TC to expand diskspace and leave time machine on existing drive?
I have an imac and macbook pro both backed up thru time machine to a 1TB Western Digital Mybook external hard disk, connected via firewire to the imac. However the hard disk on the imac (250gb) is now full and the macbook will be full soon. I would like to free both up by using a 1TB Time Capsule as my central hard disk, connected wirelessly to imac and mackbook if possible. How do i do this without disturbing the current time machine set up. Or can i just plug the Time Machine external drive into Time capsule and continue without loads of configurations??? I can't erase the time machine because there is important data on it which was deleted from the imacs hard drive. Can anybody suggest a solution to set up a home network which optimizes the disk space, incorporates printer and remote access to data which is all backed up.

Does the initial first back-up performed on Time Capsule have to be wireless or is there a way to do so hard-wired?
I've used Airport Extreme with a 1TB drive connected via USB. Performing the initial backup wirelessly takes an extraordinary long time.
Is there a way to perform the first back up "hard-wired" to the Time Capsule and then allow subsequent backups to occur wirelessly?- Asked by Edward C from Washington
