Can I back up my computer over the internet to the TC while away from home?
Also, can I share files with other computers connected to the TC in the same manner? Do I need a MobileMe subscription?

Can the TC do double duty. i.e. as an internet router/back up device in one home, then as a back-up device only in a second home?
Here's the deal, we have two homes. In the main house we would use the TC to replace an existing Airport Extreme to function as the wireless internet router (as the Extreme currently does, working with a device from our microwave wireless provider) plus, of course, as back-up for three Macs.
Then, when we travel to California for winter, can we bring the Time Capsule down there, plug it into a wall outlet and use it simply as a back-up AND bridge device with the existing AirportExpress. (I'd rather not undo the Express as it plugs into the wall behind the stereo amplifier/tuner and is hard-wired into it for iTunes, Pandora, etc. play over the amp which then plays throughout the house speakers.) Would the TC function OK in a network as a 'subordinate' to the Express?- Asked by E. William B from Sagle

Can i run my TC with the wireless turned off but still use it as a router for internet for my computer?
I am going to college and I do not want my TC to be putting out a wireless signal for other people to try to use it, however I still want to keep it working as a back up hard drive and to use it to connect my computer and xbox and other things to the internet. How do I turn off the wireless feature on my TC

Does TC slow the computer down
I was keen on buying the Time Capsule until I read that it slowed the computer down while it is running. Is this True?
Is there a way round this, like only turning on the time capsule only when I want it to perform a back up?- Asked by Mark R

Can I plug working ethernet cable into TC, and use it as a wireless router?
I am living in a university where internet is supplied via an ethernet cable plugged into the wall at one end, and computer at the other. I currently have no modem/router/anything other than a hole in the wall and an ethernet cable.
Am I right to assume that I can plug that ethernet cable from the wall into the back of a TC, and it would then act as a wireless router for my room, no other parts necessary?- Asked by Ben R

Already have a home network that worked great until I bought an iMac. Now I can't print through my pc or access them like before. Do I need a TC?
Every one of the sales people I talked to said the iMac would integrate seamlessly with my existing home network. I have a brand new Belkin system that I received for Christmas. When I set up the Belkin network, I was finally able to print from every computer in the house. Xbox ran fantastically. Could access pictures, documents, etc. (whatever was shared on each pc) through each computer on my home network.
Now that I have an iMac, I cannot see the hardwired computers on the network. It only recognizes the wireless kids' computer. I've tried hardwiring the iMac through the router. Same deal. I can access the internet, but have no access to the hardwired network. I am thoroughly frustrated.
I am considering buying a TC for this reason (if I'm going to purchase something, I'll go with the TC instead of the Airports). PLEASE tell me if there is some simple solution I'm missing. I am willing to go with Apple, but the Belkin system was working great until the addition of my BRAND NEW iMac. Received for Valentines day. PLEASE help.

Can I connect computers to each-other through a time capsule to share files?.
I have an Imac connected to a Time capsule via an ethernet cable for internet, slingbox and backups and have a Macbook pro that uses the TC wireless network to connect to the internet. Both macs see the time capsule no problem, but cannot see each other. Is there a way of setting up my home network so my two computers can see each other as well as the TC?.

Will I be able to do the following?...
Wirelessly back up my macbook pro using Time Machine

Can I restrict internet access on a TC by user and/or time of day or of the week?
I currently use a Cisco router where I open and close internet access by MAC address depending on time of day and day of the week. For instance MAC address xx:xx:xx:xx: gets internet access from 9AM to noon and then from 7PM top 9PM on week ends, and no internet access until 7PM during weekdays. On the other hand another MAC address gets a different set of rules to access the internet while my, (MAC) and my wife's (PC Running Windows 7) computers have no restrictions.
I'm told by a sales rep in a computer store that there's "No problem", doing that but that guy also sells fridges and video games so I'm looking for a little more comfort.

Can I use 2 different time capsules for the same computer? I have 2 homes that I want to use the same computer at.
I would like to be able to back up my MacBook Pro at 2 different houses. I have a Time Capsule at one home but am thinking about getting one for my 2nd home. Will this cause any confusion with my back-ups? I've thought about just taking the Time Capsule back & forth between houses but this is not convenient since I have to travel by air. I am usually at my 2nd home for 3 months or more so I don't want to miss my back-ups.

When traveling in hotel if wireless internet is not available but hard wire connection is. Can TC be used to set up a personal wireless system.
and how hard is it to set up. Then when I return home and want to use another internet connection what step would I need to take to reestablish my wireless system at home. Or is there another way to do this. I want to have a wireless portable system that I could use different internet provider (Home, Hotel, another hotel) but also want to be able to use the storage (2T) wireless anywhere as well.

Can the Time Capsule share the Internet connection from a cable modem (plugged into TC's WAN port) to other computers via Ethernet?
In other words: can I setup TC as an Internet Sharing device for the rest of the network via Ethernet? (similar to what Windows Internet Connection Sharing does)
My cable modem would plug in to the TC WAN port and I'm hoping I can set the TC up so it shares the cable modem's Internet connection to the rest of the network. The purpose being that I don't have a router (the cable modem has no router capability) and thus far I had to use a computer running 24/7 to share the internet connection.- Asked by Steffen I

Can we use TC to share files between two windows 7 computers and 1 mac?
We are a small business and we are looking to back up a mac and to share files between 2 windows 7 computers and 1 mac computer. Does the Time Capsule do this? I was also wondering if we can use it to enable wireless printing to a Ricoh Aficio MP C3500? I don't know much about computers and would appreciate any help I can get. Also is it possible to back up the windows computers onto the TC?
