Can I attach a 2TB drive via USB port on the TC to get the overflow from my 1TB TC?
I have a 1 TB Time Capsule. I want to increase the storage above 1TB. 2 TB drives are available via a few local retail stores. Will the overflow from TC go the the attached drive? And will I be able to access the data from TC?

Support for more than one hard drive hanging off the same 1 TB time capsule, via hub?
There are some other Q&A entries regarding this but they leave a few things ambiguous, so I thought I'd just explain my specific situation and hope someone will give me a clear yea or nay on what I hope to do.
I have a 1 TB Time Capsule, about a year old, and currently have a 2 TB Western Digital external drive attached via its USB port. I would like to add another 2 TB drive.
If I connect a powered USB hub to the TC's USB drive and then the two external drives to the hub, will I see both drives, as well as the TC's own, in the Time Machine configuration options? I will be routing Time Machine backups from an iMac to one of the external drives, and backups from other Macs in the house to the TC's drive and the second external drive.
Thanks for any help you can lend. I think it will work but want to be sure before I order the additional drive and hub.- Asked by Edward H from Boulder

Can I use an old TC as an external drive attached via USB to a new Time Capsule?
I want to upgrade my 1st gen TC to the 2TB 2nd gen. Once I do that can I use the old TC as an external hard drive attached via USB to the new TC? Or even use it attached directly to my Macbook? Basically, can it run without issues without using it as a gateway?

I use a Retina Macbook Pro which obviously doesn't have an ethernet port. Can the TC work wirelessly without the need of the TC being hard wired?
I have a few quick questions regarding the Time Capsule.
I'm interested in getting the 2TB version to backup my rMBP, an iMac and 2 external usb hard drives.
I'm assuming that back up works wirelessly for each device, once setup using the Airport Utility? There is no need to hardwire each Mac to setup and continue to use Time Machine on the TC?
I won't need to buy a Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter for my rMBP in order to use the Time Capsule on this machine?
The TC doesn't (and can't) replace my main router?
Thanks!- Asked by Chris J

I have an existing wifi modem router with 2x airport express for 2x audio sources and a printer attached/ should I get TC or airport extreme + a HD?
I am considering to upgrade a new hard drive 1 TB, I was looking at the difference between TC and airport extreme+HD. I have a wireless modem router already and i am not sure if i buy TC will I need to get rid of my current modem router? as supposed to airport extreme+hd attached to my existing modem router.
or would i be better of getting the Western digital network hard drive???
I need to be able to use the hard drive for both my pc desktop and my mac book pro with ease as well as my other devices... i.e media player, ps3 etc.... wihout the need of unplugging back and fort to the usb ports.

Can I plug an external HardDrive into the USB port of the TC and have both the TC drive AND the external drive to share on my network?
My plan it to be able to redundantly back up my computers (3 of them). The first back-up using the TimeMachine software and the TimeCapsule. The second doing it manually to the attached external drive and hopefully wirelessly. I am trying to avoid the need to physically attrach an external HD to my computers to achieve the second redundant back-up.

Can "Time Machine" use the internal 2-TB drive in a Timecapsule to backup an external 1-TB USB Disk that is connected to Timecapsule?
The intent is to use the external 1-TB USB disk as NAS to store large seldom needed files vs. keeping them on a Apple Laptop.
The Timecapsule will serve two purposes.
1) Serve as the access point for the 1-TB USB NAS disk for the wireless connected Apple Laptop.
2) Serve as a backup point with its internal 2-TB via "Time Machine" for both the wireless connected Apple laptop and the external 1-TB USB disk.
"Time Machine" running on the Apple laptop would be tasked with backing up the Laptop's internal 300-GB disk and the 1-TB USB NAS disk to the Timecapsule's internal 2-TB disk.- Asked by Jeff S from Bartlesville

How many USB hard drives can be connected to the time capsule?
I am getting a 1 TB time capsule, but I have a lot of data that is already on multiple external hard drives. I know that you can connect a USB hub to the TC, but how many drives can it actually support?

Can you back up an external hard drive that's an auto backup of 1 TC (connected via USB) with another second TC?
So the hard drive is an auto back up of the first TC via USB and I'm wondering if I can have another TC backup that external hard drive. In the end I would have three backup/copies of the same thing.

My 250GB G5 (backed up to 1TB ext hard with time machine) is now full. Can i use TC to expand diskspace and leave time machine on existing drive?
I have an imac and macbook pro both backed up thru time machine to a 1TB Western Digital Mybook external hard disk, connected via firewire to the imac. However the hard disk on the imac (250gb) is now full and the macbook will be full soon. I would like to free both up by using a 1TB Time Capsule as my central hard disk, connected wirelessly to imac and mackbook if possible. How do i do this without disturbing the current time machine set up. Or can i just plug the Time Machine external drive into Time capsule and continue without loads of configurations??? I can't erase the time machine because there is important data on it which was deleted from the imacs hard drive. Can anybody suggest a solution to set up a home network which optimizes the disk space, incorporates printer and remote access to data which is all backed up.

Can I use an older Time Capsule as an external hard drive (for iTunes media) and have it back up to a new TC via Time Machine?
Currently, I have a Macbook with a nearly full hard drive. I also have a more-than-full 500GB Time Capsule.
I am thinking of buying a new 2TB Time Capsule to use with Time Machine and to serve as my wireless router.
I want to move my 250GB iTunes library off of my Macbook and onto my older TC, which I'll use as an external hard drive.
Here are my questions:
1. Will the old TC be overwhelmed as a dedicated iTunes disc?
2. Will my Macbook and my Apple TV (and a future iPad, hopefully) be able to access my iTunes library wirelessly if it is stored on the old TC?
3. Will the old TC be able to back up to the new TC wirelessly?
Are there any other issues with this plan?
I truly appreciate any advice or feedback. Thanks so much.- Asked by Brian J from Windham

On my Mac Pro I have set up 3 x 2TB internal drives in a RAID 0 configuration and have the other internal drive for normal operations. Will TC back up everything?
