I am running out of memory and would like to transfer data like photos to another hard drive and erase the photos from my Macbook. Can I use the time capsule or is an external hard drive better. What's the best way to back up Time Capsule itself?
If I want to protect my data against physical theft or fire, I *think* I would need Time Capsule's data sent into the cloud or backed up to an external hard drive that I could store offsite. Is that correct?
Would the latter be as simple as taking a 2TB external drive, connecting it to Time Capsule, and then copying Time Capsule's files over to the external drive (I presume via one of the Macs on the network) from time to time. Is that fairly easy?- Asked by Gabriel Thomas J from Petaluma

Using time capsule as an external Itunes medium
I am currently using my Macbook Air, with an external 2TB hard drive to store my itunes data on (I have about 750 Gb of itunes media). I am able to use this to watch my itunes media on my apple TV. What I am thinking of doing is have the itunes library directed to the Time Capsule, now will I still be able to watch the content on my Macbook air and Apple TV?

Let's say i backed up 250 gb worth of data on my Time Capsule, if i delete everything from my hard-drive can i still access all that's backed up?
What i want to do is buy a 2TB Time Capsule, and use that to back-up everything on my 250gb external hard-drive and 200gb hard-drive on my macbook pro. Now if i back all that data up and delete everything on both disks to free up space... will i be able to access the data stored on the Time Capsule? And if so will i be able to move single files or will i have to import ALL the backed-up data back into its disk of origin? Does this make sense?

If when the Time Capsule harddrive fails, there is no easy way to recover your data what is the point of using the Time Capsule to back up your data?
If I back up to an external drive, I can just plug that drive into another computer and recover the data. With the Time Capsule the data is simply gone, there is no way to plug it in to something and transfer the files out. Why bother buying this product if there is no system to recover data from it???

Time Capsule as an External Hard Drive + Ethernet Cable question
In reading up on the Time Capsule, it can be used as a router and for storage purposes.
Some questions:
1) can the Time Capsule be used just as an external hard drive, not for back up purposes at all? Is there a setting that needs to be checked to make sure that it doesnt back up anything at all.
2) can I move files from a macbook or pc to the time capsule via an ethernet cable for faster speeds? Do I need a special ethernet cable?
3) can I also move files from a macbook or pc to the time capsule via wifi if I want, just wondering if it is possible?- Asked by Seth S from New York
