2. Can an external hard drive that had beeen connect directly to my Mac be then connected to the AirPort Extreme without loss of data, or having to be reformatted? (I use Mac OS Extended format with journaling, and I do not use Time Machine.)

Time Capsule & Airport Extreme
I have a mac pro / iphone 4 and a time capsule at home. I want to be able to see my pictures on the TV which is already connected by hard wire into a LAN point, and play my music (all in itunes). I have a router which has poor wireless. I will buy the new ipad2 and want to be able to use my TV to see pics and music from either and all apple devices (pro/iphone/pad) Mt question is what do i buy next - the airport extreme? the express? or an apple TV?

Can I have an Airport Express and Airport Extreme running at the same time?
I currently have an Airport Express with an iMac, MacBook and Apple TV running off it (this also allows Air Tunes). Next to my iMac are six external hard drives which ideally I would like away from my iMac - preferably in a cupboard somewhere else in the house. I wondered whether I could simply move the external hard drives away and connect them using a USB hub to an Airport Extreme and therefore connect to them wirelessly from both computers without it affecting the set up I already have with the Airport Express.

Is there any difference between a Time Capsule and an Airport Extreme other than the integrated hard drive?
My absolute top priority is the wireless network. I've got another, large network drive for storage. But for some reason, my university bookstore is selling a Time Capsule with 500 GB of storage at a cheaper price than the Airport Extreme. Is there any reason to still choose the Airport Extreme? If there's no difference, I'll get the TC, save $$, and get a bonus hard drive!

Can a wifi blu ray player access video files on hard drive attached to Extreme/or stored in hard drive of time capsule?
I have a Sony S590 Blu-Ray player. I want to know, once its connected to wireless network created by either extreme or time capsule, would it be able to access media files stored on external hard drives attached to Extreme Base Station/Time Capsule or the inbuilt hard drive of Time Capsule?

Will a western Digital external hard drive work well when it is connected to the Airport Extreme
I'm thinking of buying Apple TV and an Airport Extreme and I will plug in my Western Digital External hard drive into the Airport Extreme. I was wondering if the Western Digital Hard Drive will work well if I plug it into the Airport Extreme and used as a shared hard drive on the wireless network.

Can I connect and old time capsule to a new airport extreme?
I use the old time capsule for back up and to stream music wirelessly. However, the music cuts in and out at times and is solid at other times. I suspect it is getting interference from neighboring wifi networks because I live in a town house and there are at least a half dozen networks in range. Can I buy an airport extreme and take advantage of it's dual band to stream the music on the 5 ghz band and connect the old time capsule to it and still use it for back up? I don't think I need a 2 tb drive and the old time capsule still works fine. I still have one or two b/g devices so I can't just switch the old time capsule to N only.

External Hard drive attached to AirPort Extreme Base Station questions ?
Hi,
A few questions below
1) What is the file system that the External Hard drives mounted via USB to the AirPort Extreme Base Station uses ?
Is it HFS ? I need network attched storage for HFS format to store iphoto libraries across computers without have both turned on . I have NAS support now for NTFS and EXT3 but iphoto does not work on those partition types very well.
2) If I set up the hard drive mounted via USB to the AirPort Extreme Base Station to have multiple partitions will all of those portions be seen by my MAC computers? I.e if I set up a partition for time machine of a macbook, a partition for a time machine of a mac mini, and then a third for data sharing will all be mounted and seen by the macs.
3) Can you rsync a hard drive attached to the AirPort Extreme Base Station to another hard drive attached to the AirPort Extreme Base Station if using a external hub . . I.e create a backup copy of the HFS drive .- Asked by Ryan A from West Townsend

If itunes & Iphoto are on a hard drive linked to the airport extreme can i stream music and edit photos at the same time? Would USB limit this?
Would the USB connectivity of the hard drive limit me from saving files, while listening to music? I plan on putting my iphoto and itunes library on the external drive (along with my other files) and using it as NAS for my two computers. I though USB was 1 directional so I wasn't sure if this would work. It would be nice to be able to save files to the drive, while listening to media stored on the external hard drive. Apple, why u no make firewire port on APX?

Airport Extreme / Time Capsule Range
I want to access email and the internet in my studio which is 170 feet away at the end of my garden. When I tried connecting my macbook pro it does not access my present router which is within line of site through a window overlooking the garden. Is an Airport Extreme or Time Capsule likely to connect? If not what other solutions are likely to work?
All thoughts appreciated.- Asked by Michael W
