parental controls
When I set timed access to my Airport extreme (for the purpose of parental control) will it boot a user that is already accessing the wireless network at the beginning of the restricted time, or will it just not allow access to the network if they try to join during a restricted period? I read somewhere that the only thing to do is boot the Airport Extreme ( so as to kick everyone off momentarily) and then restricted computers wont be able to rejoin if it's during the restricted period.

Can I set up wireless without utilizing the internet? I want to connect my Macbook to my sound system & connect my i-phone (remote app) & control
I have attempted utilizing my airport extreme as a closed network for live music presentations. Wiring my MacBook to my BOSE L-1 system for background music and having the ability to use the set-up WiFi (without internet) as a closed network to give my i-phone the ability to control my laptop with the Remote App.
I have not found a way to set this up, every configuration seams to demand the internet connection.- Asked by Wess A from Shelbyville

How are disk permissions (both POSIX and ACL), including file and directory ownership, handled on external USB drives?
I have an existing HFS+ formatted drive, and I have it currently set NOT to ignore disk permissions. All of the folders are set with appropriate POSIX and ACL permissions such that access to each directory and file is controlled at the file-system level. If I now plug this in to an AirPort or TimeCapsule, how are permissions handled? Are they ignored and only the share-level access controls are honored? Do I have to reset all permissions on the drive? Can I manipulate permissions on a per-file basis through the AirPort utility? Will I have console (CLI) access directly to the Airport and external drive if I want? What I want, ultimately, is user-based access controls instead of share-level access controls.

Limit User Access feature in Airport Extreme
If you use the Access Control feature and enter the MAC address of the computers that you want to limit access, how does it disable users at the designated time? Will it only work when the user logs off, sleeps or reboots? What will cause the rules to go into effect?

AirPort Extreme acting as an access point and sharing a printer
I have a OpenBSD-router who provides DHCP and NAT and mostly everything else I need connected directly to the internet, but I want a better solution for sharing my printer, and providing wireless access to a growing set of computers.
Is the AirPort Extreme suitable for this? I'm not interested in it controlling the entire network…- Asked by Per Christian V

Can I have two Airport Extreme's configured as the same network but have a different ISP connected to each? So it would be bonded or redundant ISP
One Airport Extreme is already in the house, but I would like to also install one on the boat and connect it to my wireless ISP. I would like to set them up on the same network so when I move from the boat to the house it's all the same network, but when I take the boat out of port I would draw data from the wireless ISP and could control and stream to apple TV as well. With out having to make any changes on my phone.

How do I access a hard drive drive connected to an Airport Extreme base station using Airport Utility on Windows? Am I missing a step?
1. Running 2 PC's with Windows XP (SP3). Used USB hub to connect printer and hard drive (Seagate FreeAgent 500Gb ) to Airport Extreme base station. Used Airport Utility and bonjour (from disk provided with base station) to set-up shared network drive and network printer.
2. Used Control Panel (and System Preferences for additional MacBook running Leopard, 10.5.7) to add printer to each computer. The network "sees" the printer and prints can be sent from all 3 computers.
3. Tried many times to set-up hard drive without success. The drive does not show up on the PC's or the MacBook.
4. \\(ethernet address) on PC shows the printer on the 2 PC's but not the hard drive.
5. Is there another step to connect to hard drive?- Asked by Richard N from Brighton
