Can the 5th gen Airport Extreme play music without the Airport Express? If I want to play music, do I only need Airport Express?
I am looking to play music wireless throughout my house. Do I need an Airport express or extreme? Would it be useful for me to get the extreme is my main purpose is playing music wirelessly throughout my home? I can see the uses for the extreme but I am not sure. Also, do I need an extreme for every set of speakers in the house? Whats the best way to set it up?

Multiple AirPort Expresses on 1 Airport Extreme
My Primary network is through an Airport Extreme. I have an existing Airport Express which I use to drive PC speakers for iTunes music and as an Ethernet connection for my DirecTV DVR. This Express connects to network wirelessly.
I want to add another ethernet connection in yet another room. Will my Airport Extreme be able to "drive" two different Airport Expresses wirelessly?
The existing Express and Extreme are the current models in the Apple Store.
Thank you and have a nice day.- Asked by Gordon P from Atlanta

Can I have an Airport Express and Airport Extreme running at the same time?
I currently have an Airport Express with an iMac, MacBook and Apple TV running off it (this also allows Air Tunes). Next to my iMac are six external hard drives which ideally I would like away from my iMac - preferably in a cupboard somewhere else in the house. I wondered whether I could simply move the external hard drives away and connect them using a USB hub to an Airport Extreme and therefore connect to them wirelessly from both computers without it affecting the set up I already have with the Airport Express.

Possible to use older Airport Express with new Airport Extreme?
I have an older 802.11a/b/g Airport Express connected to a D-Link router and a Comcast modem. I'd like to upgrade to an Airport Extreme for the faster 802.11n speeds and to get rid of the D-Link. Can I then connect the older Airport Express to my stereo system across the room and wirelessly stream music to it? I'm concerned it may not be backward compatible as it only uses 802.11a/b/g and the newer Airport Express is 802.11n - will that be a problem?

airport extreme as a receiver from another airport extreme?
Instead of using multiple airport express devices as receivers (from airport extreme used as a router), can I use a second airport extreme as a the network receiver (or bridge) and connect multiple devices using ethernet connection? What I am intending to do is connect a blu ray player, AV receiver and a hard drive music server (by ethernet cable) to the second airport extreme and have them access the internet by communicating (wirelessly) with my first airport extreme (which is the router).
