How do I access a hard drive drive connected to an Airport Extreme base station using Airport Utility on Windows? Am I missing a step?
1. Running 2 PC's with Windows XP (SP3). Used USB hub to connect printer and hard drive (Seagate FreeAgent 500Gb ) to Airport Extreme base station. Used Airport Utility and bonjour (from disk provided with base station) to set-up shared network drive and network printer.
2. Used Control Panel (and System Preferences for additional MacBook running Leopard, 10.5.7) to add printer to each computer. The network "sees" the printer and prints can be sent from all 3 computers.
3. Tried many times to set-up hard drive without success. The drive does not show up on the PC's or the MacBook.
4. \\(ethernet address) on PC shows the printer on the 2 PC's but not the hard drive.
5. Is there another step to connect to hard drive?- Asked by Richard N from Brighton

External Hard drive attached to AirPort Extreme Base Station questions ?
Hi,
A few questions below
1) What is the file system that the External Hard drives mounted via USB to the AirPort Extreme Base Station uses ?
Is it HFS ? I need network attched storage for HFS format to store iphoto libraries across computers without have both turned on . I have NAS support now for NTFS and EXT3 but iphoto does not work on those partition types very well.
2) If I set up the hard drive mounted via USB to the AirPort Extreme Base Station to have multiple partitions will all of those portions be seen by my MAC computers? I.e if I set up a partition for time machine of a macbook, a partition for a time machine of a mac mini, and then a third for data sharing will all be mounted and seen by the macs.
3) Can you rsync a hard drive attached to the AirPort Extreme Base Station to another hard drive attached to the AirPort Extreme Base Station if using a external hub . . I.e create a backup copy of the HFS drive .- Asked by Ryan A from West Townsend

I have a network printer and a windows file server wired to the ethernet ports but am unable to access them from my macbook pro which is connected wirelessly. Can't even ping even though the AirPort Utility DHCP Clients log indicates that they've been assigned IP addresses.

Is Airport Extreme Station the right solution to connect my USB Hard Drives to the network?
Home Setup: iMac (Snow Leopard), Vigor 2800 Wireless Router, 2 Seagate Ext Drives, Canon MP640 Wireless Printer.
The Seagate Drives are currently connected to the iMac with a USB cable but I would like them to be accessed wirelessly on the network.
Tried PogoPlug but it did not support Time Machine.

Can an external hard drive with audio and video files written on it be seen by PS3 using the airport extreme bas station?
I have a lot of audio and video files on an external hard drive, that are in an iTunes media folder. I would like to know if those files would be readable and accessible on my Playstation 3, through the Airport Extreme Base Station. The ability to access a hard drive by any computer on the WiFi network via the APEBS is a VERY alluring feature, but I would nary use it if I am unable to access those iTunes specific (but still PS3 readable) files through my Playstation.

Accessing a USB hard drive across a bridged/extended network using two airport extremes.
Here is my wifi network setup: One airport extreme (newest model) in the house connected to the internet by DSL modem. This airport is the one our network is set up on. Out in our detached office is a second airport extreme that connects wirelessly to the network and extends it as a roaming network. My iPod bounces back and forth between the two airports perfectly as I walk between home and office. Eventually (and soon) I plan to buy a MacBook to replace an aging PC desktop for work.
My question: While using the MacBook in the house accessing the internet through the home Airport, will I be able to access a USB hard drive connected to the Airport in the office?
Sorry this is so wordy, but I want to make sure i get this right at each step. Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to connect a 1TB 'network' hard drive via ethernet cable to my airport extreme base station?
I have bought a network drive case and a 1TB hard drive in it. Connected via ethernet cable to my airport extreme base station. It doesn't show up. And I see only references on USB drives in the knowledge base.
Is it even possible to connect a network drive like this? Or did I forget something technical, like formatting the hard drive or assigning an IP or something?

Can an ethernet port linkup on the extreme base station be used for a 3TB 'Home Network Hard Drive' in the same way the USB port makes HD's wireless?
I would like to use a 3TB 'Home Network Drive' for streaming my movies and music over my wireless network. It uses an ethernet cable to transfer data (much faster than USB 2.0), and would work by plugging it into my Extreme Base Station's spare ethernet port. Will Airport Utility immediately recognise it as a Hardrive?- or is the Extreme Base Station restricted to only ready Hard Drives via the USB port? Thanks alot!

Use Airport Extreme as an access point only
I'm pretty sure this is possible but since Apple is using a different type of setup software for this product than I'm used to it would be helpful to get some pointers on how to do this. I assume I need to turn off DHCP and perhaps give the unit a fixed IP address. My existing network is fully configured with internet access etc and I just need to add the APE. I would connect the base to the existing network using one of the ports and not the WAN port. From this point will the Apple configuration software running on a Windows 7 PC be able to see the unit? Considering the existing network will be running as address like 192.168.2.xxx I'm concerned about the ability to see the unit. Once I can connect then configuration should be fairly simple. It is the intial connection I'm concerned about.
