Q1: Which device consumes more power, the Airport Extreme Base Station or the Airport Express Base Station?
Q2: I have 2 devices. One uses an AirLink Sierra Wireless RAVEN X Modem (AT&T service). The other uses a digicom modem (Sprint service). None of the device has wireless capability. I like to use only AT&T service and place them both on one Base Station. Unfortunately one device still uses a 9-pin serial for communication (versus ethernet) and the other device has ethernet and can be plugged into a typical network from my understanding. Will one of the base station work toward this potential setup to save service cost?
Q3: Is there a 9-pin serial to ethernet dongle?- Asked by David O from San Francisco

What range can I expect from an AirPort Extreme Base Station
My new Actiontec from Verizon doesn't seem to have the horsepower to get to my son's XBox 36 feet and 4 walls away. There are also NAT type problems and sucky tech support. I'm hoping Apple will have a solution.

Can I use an Airport Extreme to extend the range of an Airport Express base station?
I currently have a wireless network configured using an Airport Express as a base station, with 3 additional Airport Express units connected to extend the range of that base station and to stream iTunes music to each unit, each of which is connected to a powered speaker or hi-fi.
What I want to do now is add the more robust Airport Extreme as a another range extender for the Airport Express base station and place the new Airport Extreme in a central location in our home. We will not be using the Extreme for anything except 802.11n range extension (e.g, no music streaming), but I am expecting that with its additional power and range, it can provide wireless connectivity to iPhones, laptops and iPads that are used typically in this core area of the home. My Airport Express base station and the additional range extension units are located in adjacent home office, libraary and fitness center rooms all located on the same (ground level) floor. The base station is perhaps 50 feet away from where I will situate the new Airport Extreme range extender unit. It is nearly of sight with two intervening windows and a single 6" thick brick/concrete wall between the base station and where I will place the Airport Extreme. With this understanding of what I need to accomplish, will the Airport Extreme fill the requirement? Every question I have browsed talks about the opposite situation--extending the range of an Extreme using Airport Express routers. My primary use of these products is streaming music and secondarily we obtain widespread use of wireless connectivity for other needs.
Another option for an Airport Extreme is to locate one of these units in upstairs in a distant, remote area of the house. I have supplied this area with a CAT-5 cable that originates in my office using an ethernet switch, so a wireless router can be added to deliver service in that area. Will this work using the Extreme? Thanks!!- Asked by William J from Apo

Can an external hard drive with audio and video files written on it be seen by PS3 using the airport extreme bas station?
I have a lot of audio and video files on an external hard drive, that are in an iTunes media folder. I would like to know if those files would be readable and accessible on my Playstation 3, through the Airport Extreme Base Station. The ability to access a hard drive by any computer on the WiFi network via the APEBS is a VERY alluring feature, but I would nary use it if I am unable to access those iTunes specific (but still PS3 readable) files through my Playstation.

External Hard drive attached to AirPort Extreme Base Station questions ?
Hi,
A few questions below
1) What is the file system that the External Hard drives mounted via USB to the AirPort Extreme Base Station uses ?
Is it HFS ? I need network attched storage for HFS format to store iphoto libraries across computers without have both turned on . I have NAS support now for NTFS and EXT3 but iphoto does not work on those partition types very well.
2) If I set up the hard drive mounted via USB to the AirPort Extreme Base Station to have multiple partitions will all of those portions be seen by my MAC computers? I.e if I set up a partition for time machine of a macbook, a partition for a time machine of a mac mini, and then a third for data sharing will all be mounted and seen by the macs.
3) Can you rsync a hard drive attached to the AirPort Extreme Base Station to another hard drive attached to the AirPort Extreme Base Station if using a external hub . . I.e create a backup copy of the HFS drive .- Asked by Ryan A from West Townsend
